Fintech company Pine Labs has appointed Jayaram Karthik, former Senior Vice President of Business Operations at Razorpay, as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO), as the company looks to strengthen its operations and improve merchant experiences across its growing international footprint.
In his new role, Karthik will lead operations and merchant experience across India and overseas markets. His focus will be on building technology-led operating models, streamlining processes and creating more consistent merchant journeys as Pine Labs continues to expand globally.
Karthik brings more than 25 years of experience spanning operations, risk, analytics and technology. Before joining Pine Labs, he served as Senior Vice President of Business Operations at Razorpay. Over the course of his career, he has also held leadership positions at American Express, Citibank, Amazon and Tata, working across operational transformation, technology and business process scaling.
Pine Labs CEO B Amrish Rau said the company is looking to bring technology and operations closer together to create better customer experiences as it scales across markets. Pine Labs currently operates in more than 20 countries.
Karthik, meanwhile, said that the next competitive edge for fintech companies would come from making complex processes simpler for customers by combining technology, operations and experience.
The leadership appointment comes at a time when Pine Labs is also seeing stronger financial performance. The company’s revenue from operations rose to Rs 737 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with Rs 616 crore in Q1 FY26. With revenue growing faster than expenses, its profit nearly quadrupled to Rs 20 crore from Rs 5 crore during the same period.
Pine Labs operates a Commerce OS that brings together payments, issuing, credit and other fintech solutions for merchants, enterprises, financial institutions and consumers. The company has expanded its presence across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and the US.
With Karthik taking charge of operations, Pine Labs is looking to further align its technology and operational capabilities as it builds a more consistent merchant experience across the markets it serves.
