AGNIT Semiconductors Secures $2.6M to Scale Gallium Nitride Production

AGNIT Semiconductors, a pioneer in Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, has raised $2.6 million in a seed extension round led by Shastra VC. The funding saw continued support from existing investors 3one4 Capital and Zephyr Peacock, bringing the startup’s total capital raised to date to over $7 million.

This latest injection follows a $3.5 million seed round closed in 2024. The company plans to utilize the capital to aggressively scale its manufacturing capabilities, with a target of producing 100,000 GaN components over the next 24 months.

Strategic Shift to High-Demand Sectors

Founded in 2019 by a team of industry experts and academics, AGNIT specializes in the design and manufacture of GaN wafers and electronic components. While the company previously explored the electric vehicle (EV) space, leadership has opted to pause those initiatives to double down on high-growth strategic sectors.

The new funds are earmarked for expansion into:

  • Telecom Infrastructure: Enhancing 5G and future network capabilities.

  • RF Applications: Optimizing radio-frequency components for aerospace and defense.

  • High-Efficiency Power Devices: Developing next-generation semiconductors that outperform traditional silicon.

The GaN Advantage

Gallium Nitride is increasingly viewed as the successor to silicon in the semiconductor industry due to its ability to handle higher voltages, temperatures, and frequencies while maintaining a smaller footprint. By focusing on the domestic production of these materials, AGNIT positions itself as a critical player in India’s burgeoning semiconductor ecosystem.

“This funding allows us to move from R&D intensity to industrial-scale production,” the company indicated, noting that the focus remains on sectors where GaN’s performance advantages provide the highest immediate ROI.
