Circular economy technology company Recykal has announced a strategic investment of Rs 10 crore in Walbha Industries, a manufacturer of biomass briquettes and pellets. The move marks Recykal’s entry into the bioenergy value chain, expanding its business beyond waste management into biomass-based industrial fuel solutions.
Through this investment, Recykal aims to strengthen the adoption of sustainable industrial fuel by connecting Walbha Industries’ biomass production capabilities with its extensive network of enterprise customers.
The partnership will enable Walbha Industries to supply biomass fuel to Recykal’s network of more than 620 brands and manufacturers, creating a strong demand channel for biomass briquettes and pellets across industries.
As part of the collaboration, Walbha Industries will also leverage Recykal’s technology platform to digitise and streamline its supply chain operations. At the same time, Recykal’s enterprise customers will gain access to verified biomass fuel, helping businesses adopt cleaner and more sustainable energy alternatives.
The investment will also support Walbha Industries’ expansion into South India, allowing the company to broaden its market presence beyond its existing operations.
Walbha Industries currently operates a biomass production plant in Jhansi and supplies biomass briquettes and pellets to industrial customers across North and Central India.
Founded in 2015, Recykal develops digital solutions focused on the circular economy. Its portfolio includes platforms for waste management, deposit return systems, circular commerce, and AI-enabled reverse vending machines.
According to the company, it has channelised more than 3 million metric tonnes of waste and works with over 650 brands along with more than 5,000 aggregators and recyclers across its ecosystem.
With this strategic investment, Recykal is expanding its role in sustainable resource management while supporting the growth of biomass-based industrial fuel as industries increasingly look for cleaner and more environmentally responsible energy solutions.
