EDT (Everyday Design & Technology), a new-generation consumer appliances startup, has emerged from stealth mode, announcing a $1.4 million pre-seed funding round led by Sauce VC. The capital injection will fuel the brand’s mission to reimagine home, kitchen, and personal care devices with a sharp focus on design, technology, and safer materials.
The startup is co-founded by Naiyya Saggi, a respected consumer-tech builder and the founder of BabyChakra (which merged into the Good Glamm Group), and Vyasateja Rao, an award-winning industrial designer.
Strong Investor Backing for Design-Led Approach
The pre-seed round saw significant participation from Consumer Collective, Peak XV’s Spark Grant, and a strong network of high-profile angel investors, founders, and senior executives from companies including Caratlane, Noise, Urban Company, Mokobara, Ultrahuman, Servify, Vahdam, Dixon Technologies, and Reckitt.
EDT has also built an impressive advisory board featuring global experts, including Caitlin Kalinowski (Head of Hardware, OpenAI), signalling a serious commitment to hardware and global product development.
Naiyya Saggi, Co-Founder & CEO, EDT, stated, “Consumers want products that combine thoughtful design, intuitive technology, and materials that are safer and better for their homes. This pre-seed round enables us to build a strong foundation for our innovation-led product pipeline and begin working closely with India’s emerging tech and manufacturing ecosystem.”
Strategic Use of Funds and Market Positioning
The $1.4 million will be strategically deployed to:
-
Accelerate the development of its product pipeline across home, kitchen, and personal care categories.
-
Establish advanced R&D and design processes.
-
Hire specialized talent in engineering, design, and manufacturing.
-
Secure manufacturing partnerships in India and overseas.
EDT is positioning itself to fill the gap between mass-market and ultra-premium brands. The company aims to offer products priced approximately 10–15% higher than mass brands like Philips, but with significantly better quality, design, and a ‘better-for-you’ proposition, such as using materials like glass and food-grade plastics.
Launch and Global Ambition
Founded in 2025, EDT is setting ambitious launch goals. Its initial products—which include LUMA, a PureGlass and NutriRetain Air Fryer—are expected to go live through preorders and waitlists between January and February 2026.
The brand plans to launch first in India and then quickly expand to international markets, including the GCC and the US. EDT’s core strategy is to be a global consumer appliances brand built out of India, focused on enhancing everyday use cases through design-led innovation.
