ThinkMetal Raises Rs 27 Crore Led by IAN Alpha Fund to Scale Metal Manufacturing Technology

Advanced materials and manufacturing startup ThinkMetal has raised Rs 27 crore in a funding round led by IAN Alpha Fund, with participation from 3i Partners and existing investors.

The company will use the fresh capital to develop its products, strengthen its research and development (R&D) capabilities, and increase adoption among industrial customers.

Founded by Sabyasachi Ghosh and Arushi Sharma, ThinkMetal is developing indigenous technologies for precision metal manufacturing. Its platform brings together advanced materials, manufacturing processes and industrial systems to reduce production time and dependence on imported technologies.

Developing Indigenous Metal Manufacturing Technology

ThinkMetal focuses on helping manufacturers produce precision metal components through its proprietary technologies. Its approach combines materials innovation with manufacturing processes and industrial systems to improve production efficiency.

The company’s current commercial offering is SistemT1, a metal additive manufacturing system designed to produce precision metal components. The system uses ThinkMetal’s proprietary FuseX metal filament technology.

Alongside its existing product, the company is expanding its materials library and developing in-house capabilities to process new materials. These efforts are aimed at broadening the range of components and applications that its technology can support.

Serving Aerospace, Defence and Automotive Industries

ThinkMetal serves manufacturers across several sectors, including aerospace, defence, space, automotive and electric mobility. These industries require precision components and manufacturing processes that can meet demanding performance and production requirements.

The company has moved beyond the technology development stage and into enterprise pilots. It is now working towards larger commercial deployments as it seeks to increase adoption among industrial customers.

According to IAN Alpha Fund, ThinkMetal has filed more than 17 intellectual property applications, reflecting its efforts to develop and protect its proprietary technologies.

Aiming to Reduce Production Time and Costs

ThinkMetal claims its technology can manufacture high-value precision metal parts up to 10 times faster and at half the cost of conventional methods.

The company aims to reduce reliance on imported manufacturing technologies by developing solutions in-house. Its focus on proprietary materials, additive manufacturing systems and industrial processes is intended to help manufacturers improve production efficiency while accessing locally developed technology.

The latest funding will support further product development and R&D, along with efforts to bring the technology to more industrial customers.

With its move towards larger commercial deployments, ThinkMetal is looking to expand the use of its precision metal manufacturing platform across industries where advanced components and production efficiency are important.
