PanIIT Alumni India, the apex body representing alumni from all 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), has announced the appointment of Dr Amitabh Ranjan as Vice Chairman and Rajeev Singh as General Secretary for its 2026–28 Executive Council.
The appointments strengthen the organisation’s national leadership as it continues to expand its role in connecting IIT alumni and contributing to India’s technology, entrepreneurship, education, and public policy ecosystem.
Dr Amitabh Ranjan and Rajeev Singh will join Chairman Prabhat Kumar, IRS, and Treasurer Ashish Kela, CFA, on the Executive Council. Together, they will represent a global network of more than five lakh IIT alumni, with active chapters across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Korea, Singapore, and Australia.
Dr Amitabh Ranjan currently serves as the Registrar of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi, one of India’s leading institutions for the training and capacity-building of civil servants. A graduate in petroleum engineering, he has previously held leadership positions in the Government of Uttar Pradesh, where he played a key role in digitising the state’s Transport Department through the Vahan vehicle registration platform and the Sarathi driving licence system. Both digital platforms are now widely used across the country.
Apart from his administrative experience, Dr Ranjan has remained actively involved with the PanIIT community, regularly moderating and speaking at major PanIIT summits on subjects including public governance, India’s knowledge traditions, energy, renewable energy, and climate.
Rajeev Singh, who currently serves as Chief General Manager at Engineers India Limited, has been closely associated with PanIIT Alumni India for several years. He has played an important role in organising many of the organisation’s flagship events, initiatives, and alumni engagement programmes. As General Secretary, he will help drive the organisation’s growing presence across India’s technology, entrepreneurship, and public policy landscape.
Welcoming the new office bearers, Prabhat Kumar, Chairman of PanIIT Alumni India, said that both leaders have demonstrated years of dedicated service to the PanIIT movement.
He said that their experience and leadership would further strengthen the organisation’s efforts to promote alumni collaboration, encourage thought leadership, and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
Speaking after his appointment, Dr Amitabh Ranjan said it was an honour to take on the responsibility within an organisation that has consistently channelled the talent of the IIT community towards public service. He added that he looks forward to working with the Executive Council to deepen PanIIT’s engagement in public policy, governance, and national development.
Rajeev Singh said that PanIIT has always been built on the collective efforts of its volunteers and alumni. As General Secretary, he said his focus would be on strengthening the alumni network and ensuring that members, chapters, and initiatives remain closely connected while working towards common goals.
PanIIT Alumni India serves as the umbrella organisation for alumni of all IITs, promoting collaboration, innovation, thought leadership, and national service. Over the years, it has organised several flagship summits and initiatives across technology, entrepreneurship, education, and public policy.
With its newly strengthened Executive Council, the organisation aims to deepen alumni engagement, encourage innovation-led partnerships, and launch initiatives that create a lasting impact on society while supporting India’s nation-building efforts.
