Jodhpur Emerges as One of India’s Fastest-Growing Startup Hubs, Driven by Marwari Catalysts and a Thriving Innovation Ecosystem

Once celebrated primarily for its rich heritage, majestic Mehrangarh Fort, and thriving handicrafts industry, Jodhpur is rapidly carving out a new identity as one of India’s fastest-growing startup and innovation hubs. Backed by a collaborative ecosystem of academia, investors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders, the Blue City is witnessing a remarkable surge in startup activity, producing ventures that are scaling nationally and expanding into global markets.

According to industry estimates and ecosystem stakeholders, startups founded in Jodhpur have collectively attracted investments exceeding Rs 2,500 crore over the years. With rising investor confidence, stronger institutional support, and increasing access to domestic and international markets, ecosystem leaders believe the city’s startup ecosystem has the potential to attract Rs 3,000–5,000 crore in cumulative investments over the coming years, creating thousands of high-quality jobs and strengthening Rajasthan’s innovation economy.

Several startups that originated in Jodhpur have already established themselves as leaders across diverse industries. Companies including ASG Eye Hospital, Utkarsh, Marwari Catalysts INKA, NPrep, LeapAhead, UR Turms, Elara IVF, Dopahar, Sarathi Health Care, INTELIQUANT AI, Climekare, Literom, Nostalgia Pages, Krimanshi, and WorkAffair have gained national recognition, with many successfully expanding into international markets. Their growth highlights the increasing ability of Tier-III cities to build globally competitive businesses.

A major factor behind Jodhpur’s transformation has been the active participation of premier educational and research institutions, including IIT Jodhpur, National Law University (NLU), AIIMS Jodhpur, MBM University, Rajasthan Agricultural University, Dr. S.N. Rajasthan Ayurveda University, and FDDI. These institutions have played a crucial role in nurturing innovation, encouraging research-driven entrepreneurship, and connecting young innovators with industry opportunities.

The city’s entrepreneurial momentum has also been significantly strengthened by Marwari Catalysts, one of Rajasthan’s pioneering startup ecosystem builders. Nearly six years ago, the organization laid the foundation for structured startup incubation, acceleration, mentoring, and investor engagement in the region, helping cultivate a vibrant entrepreneurial culture in Jodhpur.

Over the past six years, Marwari Catalysts has incubated, accelerated, mentored, and supported more than 200 startups, providing founders with access to investors, experienced mentors, corporate partnerships, government initiatives, and international business opportunities. Many of these startups have successfully scaled their operations, generated employment, and expanded beyond India.

To further strengthen the local ecosystem, the organization launched Startup Club Jodhpur, a community platform designed for aspiring entrepreneurs, students, and innovators. The initiative has hosted eight founder meet-and-greet and pre-incubation sessions, bringing together over 500 entrepreneurs for networking, mentorship, expert sessions, and startup pitch events, creating a collaborative environment for innovation and business growth.

Today, Jodhpur’s startup ecosystem spans a wide range of sectors, including education, healthcare, financial services, artificial intelligence, climate technology, enterprise software, manufacturing, consumer brands, and media, reflecting the city’s rapidly diversifying entrepreneurial landscape.

Speaking on the city’s transformation, Sushil Sharma, Chairman of Marwari Catalysts Group, Executive Director at BRICS CCI, Convenor of ESC Rajasthan Chapter, and Co-Chair of the Startup Vertical for Rotary District 3053 (2026–27), said:

“Six years ago, very few people associated Jodhpur with startups. Today, the city has become a vibrant centre of entrepreneurship where founders are building companies that are solving real-world problems and attracting national as well as international attention. Our association with Startup India, the development of Startup Club Jodhpur and our continuous efforts to connect founders with investors, mentors and global markets have helped create an ecosystem where innovation can flourish. We believe the next decade belongs to Tier-II and Tier-III cities, and Jodhpur is well positioned to become one of India’s leading startup destinations.”

Gaurav Parulkar, CEO of IIT Jodhpur Technology Innovation and Start-up Center (IITJ-TISC), emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration in driving innovation.

“The success of any startup ecosystem depends on strong collaboration between academia, research, innovators and industry. Jodhpur has made significant progress in this direction. Organisations like Marwari Catalysts have played an important role in bridging innovators with mentors, investors and markets, enabling startups to commercialise technologies and build sustainable businesses.”

Highlighting the expanding role of healthcare innovation, Professor (Dr.) Govind Sahay Shukla, Vice Chancellor of Dr. S.N. Rajasthan Ayurveda University, noted that entrepreneurship now extends well beyond the technology sector.

“Healthcare, Ayurveda, biotechnology and wellness are witnessing rapid entrepreneurial growth. The evolving startup ecosystem in Jodhpur is encouraging researchers, students and professionals to transform scientific knowledge into impactful enterprises.”

Meanwhile, Vipul Kochar, President of the MBM Alumni Association, credited the city’s growing support ecosystem for empowering aspiring entrepreneurs.

“Jodhpur has always produced outstanding engineers, technologists and professionals. What has changed over the past few years is the availability of an ecosystem that empowers them to become entrepreneurs. The combined efforts of educational institutions, alumni networks, investors and organisations like Marwari Catalysts have created an environment where young innovators have the confidence and support to build companies from Rajasthan with global aspirations.”

Industry experts believe Jodhpur’s rapid rise demonstrates the immense untapped potential of India’s Tier-II and Tier-III cities. As collaboration between educational institutions, government bodies, investors, industry leaders, and startup enablers continues to deepen, the city is steadily emerging as one of North-West India’s most influential innovation hubs.

With a growing pipeline of successful startups, increasing investment activity, and a strong ecosystem supporting founders from ideation to scale, Jodhpur is positioning itself as a model for regional innovation-led development and a key contributor to India’s next phase of startup growth.
