Travel platform ixigo has officially launched a completely redesigned, AI-native version of its application, shifting from traditional search filters to a conversational, agentic user experience. Announced at the company’s flagship tech event, ixigo NEXT, the update integrates artificial intelligence into the core of the platform to provide highly personalized travel planning.
The standout feature of the overhaul is the evolution of ixigo’s multimodal AI assistant, TARA. Instead of navigating complex menus and toggles, users can now state or voice their travel intent naturally. TARA supports voice, text, and tap interactions in English, Hindi, and Hinglish, with plans to expand language options in the near future.
Because the assistant is context-aware, it adapts to the specific stage of a user’s journey. Beyond answering complex booking queries, TARA can manage post-booking logistics, including tracking flight schedules, handling cancellations, processing refunds, and delivering real-time updates like terminal changes, gate details, and airport lounge recommendations.
Additionally, the update introduces “Trip Mode,” a dedicated interface that consolidates all essential post-booking information. This feature acts as a real-time digital companion, automatically surfacing boarding passes, baggage belt numbers, and live travel alerts as the passenger moves through the airport.
“Over the last two decades, ixigo has focused on building products that reduce anxiety and bring peace of mind to travellers,” said co-founders Rajnish Kumar and Aloke Bajpai in a joint statement. “With the new AI-native version of our app, we are reimagining travel as a conversational, intuitive and deeply personalised experience powered by AI.”
The updated app is rolling out to users starting today, marking a significant shift in how Indian travelers interact with digital booking platforms.
