In a strong vote of confidence for India’s growing deeptech ecosystem, Zango AI, a regulatory compliance startup co-headquartered in Bengaluru and San Francisco, has secured $4.8 million (approximately ₹41 crore) in seed funding. The round was led by Nexus Venture Partners, with additional backing from South Park Commons, Notion Capital, No Label Ventures, and Start Ventures.
The funding will fuel Zango’s expansion across key global markets, with a sharp focus on building out its teams in Bengaluru and London, while also accelerating development of its AI-powered governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) suite.
Building the Future of Compliance Tech
Founded by Ritesh Singhania and Shashank Agarwal, Zango AI is on a mission to simplify the complex and often manual world of regulatory compliance. The startup’s cloud-native platform leverages regulatory-domain large language models (LLMs) to power intelligent agents that automate and optimize compliance workflows.
“We believe compliance shouldn’t be a burden—it should be intelligent, proactive, and scalable,” said Ritesh Singhania. “With this funding, we’re doubling down on creating a robust, AI-first infrastructure for regulatory functions.”
Singhania previously founded ClearGlass, a UK-based pension regulation platform, while Agarwal was the brain behind Third Watch, an AI fraud detection startup acquired by Razorpay in 2019.
Expanding Horizons: Insurance & Asset Management in Focus
Zango’s current clientele includes notable financial institutions such as Novobanco, Monzo, and Juni, which rely on the platform to compress multi-day regulatory processes into mere hours. With this momentum, the company now plans to extend its offerings into insurance and asset management sectors, where regulatory load is equally burdensome and ripe for disruption.
Competition Heats Up in Compliance Automation
In India, Zango faces competition from players like Yellow.ai, Haptik, and RevRag.ai, who offer automation tools tailored to BFSI enterprises. On the global stage, it enters the ring alongside well-known compliance automation startups such as Sprinto, Vanta, and Drata.
Despite the crowded space, Zango is betting on deep vertical integration, regulatory-specific LLMs, and a founder-led vision that’s deeply rooted in the fintech and regtech domain.
