Spacetech startup SatLeo Labs has secured $2.2 million in a seed funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures, taking its total funding to $5.5 million so far. The round also saw participation from Merak Ventures, Java Capital, IIMA Ventures, along with investor Manish Gandhi.
Focus on Thermal Intelligence and Satellite Development
The company plans to use the fresh capital to advance its thermal satellite mission and further develop its AI-powered platform designed for thermal intelligence applications. Founded by Shravan Bhati, SatLeo Labs is building satellite-based systems that capture both thermal and visible data from low Earth orbit. Its solutions are aimed at supporting sectors such as defence, agriculture, urban planning, and climate monitoring.
Product Development and Early Deployments
SatLeo has already developed its first thermal payload, TAPAS-1, which is currently being prepared for satellite integration. The startup has also begun pilot deployments, working on projects related to urban heat mapping and air pollution monitoring in cities like Ahmedabad and Tumakuru.
Growth Plans Ahead
The company has grown its team to around 30 members and is building a strong commercial pipeline, with letters of intent exceeding $42 million. Over the next year, SatLeo Labs plans to focus on satellite launch readiness, expanding commercial operations, and scaling its thermal data capabilities, as it looks to strengthen its position in the growing spacetech ecosystem.
