MS Dhoni Invests in SolarSquare, Joins Residential Rooftop Solar Startup as Brand Ambassador

Residential rooftop solar startup SolarSquare has announced that former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni has invested in the company through his family office, Midas Deals, as part of its recently announced $53 million Series C funding round. Along with the investment, Dhoni will also take on the role of brand ambassador for the company.

The development marks a significant milestone for SolarSquare as it looks to accelerate the adoption of residential rooftop solar solutions across India.

Founded by Shreya Mishra and Nikhil Nahar, SolarSquare offers end-to-end rooftop solar solutions for homeowners. Its services include consultation, system design, installation, financing, monitoring, and after-sales support, making the transition to solar energy easier for residential customers.

According to the company, it has already installed rooftop solar systems in more than 50,000 homes across 29 cities in India.

SolarSquare plans to use the fresh capital from its Series C funding round to expand its footprint across the country. The company aims to enter 30 to 40 new cities, strengthen its technology platform, provide more financing options for customers, and enhance its customer service infrastructure.

Earlier this month, SolarSquare raised $53 million in a Series C funding round led by Lightspeed, with participation from Lowercarbon Capital, NGP Capital, Elevation Capital, and its existing investors.

With the addition of MS Dhoni as both an investor and brand ambassador, SolarSquare is expected to further strengthen its brand presence while promoting the adoption of clean energy solutions among Indian households. The company continues to focus on making rooftop solar more accessible and affordable as demand for renewable energy grows across the country.
