Mumbai-based Hunger Inc, the parent company behind celebrated restaurant and confectionery brands such as Bombay Canteen, O Pedro, Veronica’s, Papa’s, and Bombay Sweet Shop, has raised ₹215 crore (nearly $25 million) in a fresh funding round led by Lighthouse Funds and DSG Consumer Partners. The round also facilitated secondary exits for early investors, including CP Gurnani and several angel backers.
This marks a significant milestone for Hunger Inc, which had earlier raised $1.69 million in seed funding, and continues to be backed by the Godrej family office. The new capital will primarily go toward strengthening its production infrastructure and supply chain as the company prepares to expand beyond Mumbai, its home market.
Founded in 2014 by Sameer Seth, the late Chef Floyd Cardoz, and Yash Bhanage, Hunger Inc has grown into one of India’s most admired hospitality groups. Its portfolio combines innovative dining concepts with a strong focus on storytelling and brand experience.
Bombay Sweet Shop, the group’s retail vertical offering modern Indian sweets, chocolates, and confectionery, has emerged as a major growth driver, contributing over half of the company’s total revenue. The brand currently operates five retail stores and 18 dark kitchens, serving customers through its website and delivery platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato.
In FY25, Hunger Inc reported ₹115 crore in revenue with a 9% EBITDA margin, and is targeting ₹150 crore in FY26. Bombay Sweet Shop alone is tracking ₹8–9 crore in monthly sales.
Looking ahead, the company plans to enter Delhi and establish a flagship Bombay Sweet Shop in the next 12–18 months. It also aims to expand its B2B and institutional verticals, supplying premium desserts and snacks to clients including Starbucks, Oberoi Hotels, and recently, IndiGo Airlines, which features Bombay Sweet Shop products on international routes.
With a combination of brand equity, operational depth, and investor confidence, Hunger Inc is positioning itself as a national player redefining India’s modern culinary landscape.
