Biokraft Foods Raises ₹2 Crore to Advance Cultivated Meat Innovation in India

Biokraft Foods, a Mumbai-based foodtech startup, has secured ₹2 crore in pre-seed funding from GVFL, with the goal of accelerating its work in cultivated meat.

The company will channel the investment into strengthening R&D, speeding up product development, and securing the necessary regulatory approvals ahead of its commercial rollout.

Founded in 2023 by Kamalnayan Tibrewal, Biokraft is developing structured cultivated meat designed to replicate the taste, texture, and experience of conventional meat. Its platform uses biotechnology and 3D bioprinting to create realistic meat alternatives while adopting a hybrid model—combining cultivated meat with safe food-grade ingredients to reduce costs and improve scalability.

The startup has already run 400+ consumer trials, reporting highly positive feedback. It has also benefited from grants and incubation programs at iCREATE, SPTBI, and ICT-NICE.

Targeting eco-conscious consumers, food manufacturers, restaurants, and retailers, Biokraft aims to provide sustainable alternatives to traditional meat supply chains. Looking ahead, the company also plans to expand into cultivated seafood and pet food applications.

With global leaders like Eat Just and Upside Foods driving adoption internationally, Biokraft is positioning itself as one of India’s earliest players in the cultivated protein ecosystem, addressing both sustainability and food security challenges.
