At a time when the world is racing to harness quantum computing for practical use, a quiet but powerful player—BQP—is making its mark by doing just that.
The New York and Bengaluru-based quantum simulation company has raised $4.9 million in an oversubscribed seed round, led by Monta Vista Capital, and joined by notable backers like New York Ventures, Arc Ventures, Emergent Ventures, and Alumni Ventures.
This fresh round brings BQP’s total funding to $6.6 million and comes shortly after the company inked a strategic collaboration with the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Aerospace Systems Directorate under a CRADA (Cooperative Research and Development Agreement).
What exactly does BQP do? In essence, it’s building BQPhy—a hybrid simulation platform that uses a combination of quantum-powered algorithms and classical solvers to tackle complex engineering problems. Think digital twins, optimization models, and simulation workflows that can span across CPUs, GPUs, and eventually, quantum processors.
Founded in 2020 by Abhishek Chopra, Jash Minocha, and Rut Lineswala, BQP’s mission is ambitious: to rethink how sectors like aerospace, defense, semiconductors, and energy simulate the real world—making those simulations faster, smarter, and more scalable.
“We’re not waiting for quantum to ‘arrive.’ We’re building for it now—and making engineering smarter in the process,” said co-founder Abhishek Chopra.
And BQP isn’t just making noise—it’s already working with major names like the Department of Defense, IBM, Intel, Moog, IAI North America, ABB, and even the Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries.
The new funds will accelerate the development of BQP’s quantum-powered digital twin framework, deepen sector partnerships, and help the company expand its footprint in the aerospace and defense sectors.
In a world that often sees quantum computing as a distant dream, BQP is quietly showing that the future is already under simulation.
