Goa Launches Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana to Empower Women Through Digital Literacy

Porvorim, August 07, 2025 – In a significant step towards digital inclusion, the Government of Goa has launched the Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana, a state-wide initiative to equip women, particularly in underserved areas, with critical digital skills. The goal is to ensure no woman is left behind in India’s digital journey.

The scheme was formally unveiled at PAC Hall Secretariat, Porvorim, by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Hon’ble Minister for ITE&C Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, alongside senior officials including Dr. Chandrakant Shetye (Chairman, ITG), Shri Sanjeev Ahuja (Secretary, DITE&C), Shri Kabir Shirgaonkar (Director, DITE&C), and Shri Praveen Volvotkar (MD, Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd).

“Through the Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana, we are taking digital literacy to Gramin women, ensuring they are equipped with the confidence and skills to navigate today’s digital world,” said Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.

Key features of the scheme include:

  • Eligibility: Women aged 18+ who have been residents of Goa for at least 15 years

  • Training coverage: Use of smartphones, accessing online platforms, navigating government services

  • Training channels: Sessions through ITKCs, Common Service Centres (CSCs), and Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) at local community venues

  • Funding structure:

    • ₹500 per person per training session – 80% to CSC/ITKC/VLE, 20% to ITG

    • ₹100 additional infrastructure cost (for public venues like schools, panchayat halls, religious halls)

  • Duration: The scheme will be valid for three years from the date of notification

Implemented by the Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd. (ITG), the scheme directly supports the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by building digital capabilities among rural women, laying a foundation for economic participation and self-reliance.

This initiative underscores Goa’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering women to take charge of their futures in an increasingly tech-driven world.
