AI-driven equity research startup Pinegap has raised $8 million (approximately Rs 76 crore) in a Series A funding round led by Stellaris Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Silicon Valley Quad and DeVC. The fresh capital will support the company’s expansion as it strengthens its AI-powered platform for institutional equity research.
The funding comes after Pinegap’s $2.5 million seed round in 2024, reflecting growing investor confidence in AI-driven enterprise solutions for the financial services sector.
Founded in 2024 by Ankit Varmani and Deepak Sharma, Pinegap is building an AI-powered equity research platform that automates research workflows for institutional buy-side analysts at hedge funds, mutual funds, and other investment firms. The startup leverages custom AI agents to streamline complex research tasks, enabling analysts to focus on investment decisions rather than manual data processing.
The company develops agentic AI platforms and customized workflows for institutional equity research, earnings analysis, investment thesis tracking, and financial data interpretation. Unlike generic AI solutions, Pinegap collaborates directly with investment teams to understand their research methodologies before designing AI agents tailored to each firm’s workflow and investment style.
According to the company, Pinegap has deployed more than 1,000 AI agents across over 100 institutional customers. These AI agents have collectively generated more than 50,000 equity research reports, helping investment professionals improve research efficiency, accelerate analysis, and enhance decision-making.
The latest funding will enable Pinegap to further develop its AI capabilities, expand its customer base, and strengthen its product offerings as demand for AI-powered automation continues to rise across the financial sector.
Pinegap is part of a broader wave of startups applying artificial intelligence to automate traditional enterprise workflows. Similar AI-driven automation solutions are gaining traction across industries including healthcare, ecommerce, marketing, and financial services, where organizations are increasingly adopting AI to improve productivity, reduce operational complexity, and enhance business outcomes.
With institutional investors seeking faster and more data-driven research capabilities, Pinegap aims to position itself as a key technology partner for modern investment firms leveraging artificial intelligence for equity research.
