Global travel platform Skyscanner has appointed cricketer Suryakumar “SKY” Yadav as its first-ever brand ambassador in India, marking a strategic move to strengthen its presence in the country.
Known as “Mr. 360” on the cricket field, SKY will now extend that versatility to travel, inspiring Indian consumers as the “Mr. 360 of travel.” His appointment comes ahead of his leadership role in the upcoming Asia Cup, leveraging his popularity to deepen Skyscanner’s connection with Indian travellers.
According to Skyscanner’s Pitch Perfect Journeys report, 47% of Indians are willing to travel to watch cricket live, highlighting the rise of sport-led travel. The collaboration taps into this trend, blending cricket’s passion with the joy of exploration.
To launch the partnership, Skyscanner and SKY will host a social media contest where fans can design personalized travel itineraries for the cricketer using Skyscanner’s platform. Winners will get the chance to meet him in person.
“Travel excites me as much as cricket. Partnering with Skyscanner feels natural because it’s about making travel simple, smart, and full of possibilities. I’m looking forward to inspiring more fans to combine their love for cricket with the joy of discovering the world,” said Suryakumar Yadav.
“SKY’s connection with people across India makes him the perfect partner to show how simple and inspiring travel with Skyscanner can be,” added Neel Ghose, Country Manager, Skyscanner India.
The partnership follows Skyscanner’s expansion in India, including the launch of its first India office last year, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to the market.
