Satish Sharma Joins PhysicsWallah as CMO Amid Bold Brand Expansion and IPO Buzz

As PhysicsWallah (PW) gears up for what could be one of India’s most anticipated IPOs in the edtech space, it’s also sharpening its storytelling—and leading that charge is its newly appointed Chief Marketing Officer, Satish Sharma.

With over 20 years of experience in marketing, brand building, and analytics, Sharma steps into this role at a defining moment for PW. He previously co-founded Unyscape, where he wore multiple hats as both COO and CMO, helping global clients scale through data-driven strategies.

Now, he’s bringing that same playbook to PW—a company that began humbly in 2020 as a YouTube channel and has since evolved into a $2.8 billion edtech juggernaut.

“PW has redefined accessibility in education. The opportunity to shape its next phase—where offline, online, and hybrid come together—is incredibly exciting,” Sharma shared in a brief interaction.

Sharma’s appointment signals PW’s growing focus on building a nationally resonant brand—not just as a content provider, but as a full-fledged ecosystem spanning test prep, skilling, higher education, and overseas learning.

The company already boasts a robust revenue of ₹1,940.4 crore in FY24, and with backing from marquee investors like Lightspeed, WestBridge, Hornbill Capital, and GSV Ventures, the stakes have never been higher.

According to media reports, PW filed draft IPO papers in March via the confidential route, aiming to raise ₹4,600 crore. If all goes as planned, it could become India’s first listed edtech unicorn.

And as PW readies itself for the public markets, Sharma’s mandate is clear: craft a compelling narrative, strengthen the brand’s emotional connect, and ensure measurable impact at scale.

As India’s education landscape shifts toward blended learning, PhysicsWallah seems to be scripting not just lessons, but legacy. And with a seasoned marketer now in the driver’s seat, the brand’s next chapter looks promising—and loud.
