GrowthCap Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm focused on technology-led businesses, has invested in LogiXair, a Hyderabad-based deeptech aerospace and logistics company developing autonomous hybrid-electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft for cargo transportation. The investment also includes angel investors with professional backgrounds at Honeywell Aerospace, bringing additional industry expertise and strategic insight to the company.
Founded by Bhanu Teja Chidura and Pulla Kapil, LogiXair is developing an aerial logistics platform designed to address the challenges of short-haul cargo transportation across metros, industrial hubs and Tier II and Tier III cities. Its aircraft are designed to transport cargo over distances of up to 600 km without requiring conventional runways, with plans to serve international markets as well.
The investment will support further engineering development, technology validation and commercialisation as the company works to establish its autonomous aerial logistics platform.
Developing a New Layer of Regional Cargo Logistics
LogiXair aims to address gaps in India’s logistics infrastructure by enabling faster and more flexible cargo movement between locations that may be underserved by conventional transportation networks.
Its approach combines autonomous aviation with hybrid-electric propulsion and intelligent cargo handling. The company is developing an integrated platform that includes aircraft, modular cargo containers, autonomous ground-handling systems and fleet operations software.
Together, these components are intended to create an additional logistics layer alongside road, rail and conventional aviation. The model is designed to support regional cargo movement while offering potential applications across industrial, defence and strategic sectors.
The company’s roadmap also includes opportunities in international markets, where autonomous cargo aviation could support specialised transportation requirements.
L560 Aircraft Targets 300 kg Payload and 600 km Range
At the centre of LogiXair’s technology portfolio is the L560, an autonomous hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft designed to carry payloads of up to 300 kg over a distance of 600 km.
The aircraft is being developed to operate without conventional runways, potentially enabling cargo transportation between industrial facilities, logistics hubs and other locations where traditional aviation infrastructure may be limited.
The broader platform combines the aircraft with modular cargo containers, autonomous ground-handling capabilities and fleet management software. This integrated approach is intended to support operational scalability rather than relying solely on aircraft development.
LogiXair’s focus on hybrid-electric propulsion and autonomous systems places it at the intersection of aerospace engineering, robotics, advanced mobility and logistics technology.
Engineering Progress and Intellectual Property Development
The company has reported progress across its technology development programme, including validation of a hybrid-electric powertrain, flight testing of sub-scale prototypes and the development of six intellectual property assets.
According to the company, its technology has reached Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL 6). At this stage, a technology is typically demonstrated in a relevant environment, indicating progress beyond early conceptual development.
LogiXair’s engineering team spans aerospace engineering, autonomous systems, robotics and software, with experience across research and commercial technology systems.
The company is also working with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and other aerospace and defence original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). These engagements help the team test its technology against operational requirements, while revenue from its engineering activities supports a capital-efficient path towards commercialisation.
The company plans to continue developing its technology and explore partnerships across logistics, industrial and strategic sectors as it advances towards broader deployment.
GrowthCap Ventures Backs Indigenous Aerospace Innovation
Commenting on the investment, Bhanu Teja Chidura, Co-founder of LogiXair, said the company aims to build a new layer of logistics infrastructure that makes regional cargo transportation faster, more flexible and less dependent on traditional transportation networks.
He added that GrowthCap Ventures’ backing, alongside support from experienced aerospace professionals, would strengthen the company’s efforts to develop scalable aerial logistics infrastructure for India and global markets.
Pratekk Agarwaal, Founder and General Partner of GrowthCap Ventures, said LogiXair stood out for its engineering capabilities and progress from concept development to a flying hybrid-electric VTOL platform.
Agarwaal highlighted the company’s six IP assets, defence engineering business and the experience of its founding team. He also pointed to potential applications in defence and offshore logistics, followed by India’s middle-mile cargo segment, with Europe and Asia-Pacific identified as potential international markets.
According to Agarwaal, the company’s execution demonstrates the potential of Indian engineering talent to build globally relevant deeptech businesses.
India’s Deeptech and Aerospace Ecosystem Gains Momentum
LogiXair’s development comes amid growing interest in indigenous deeptech innovation, aerospace engineering and autonomous mobility in India.
Government initiatives, including the ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme, are intended to accelerate research, development and the commercialisation of domestic technologies.
As investment and industry attention increasingly focus on strategic technologies, companies working on autonomous systems, advanced propulsion and aerospace applications are exploring opportunities across commercial and defence markets.
For LogiXair, the immediate focus remains on engineering development, technology validation and commercialisation. Its combination of aircraft technology, cargo-handling systems and fleet operations software is intended to support a broader approach to aerial logistics.
