In a key leadership shift, foodtech giant Eternal (formerly Zomato) has announced the appointment of Aditya Mangla as the CEO of its core food delivery business. The company’s board approved the appointment on July 6 for a two-year term, according to a regulatory filing.
Mangla takes over from Rakesh Ranjan, who successfully led the vertical for two years. While Ranjan steps down as a designated Senior Management Personnel (SMP), he isn’t exiting Eternal—he will continue to be associated with the company in an advisory or alternate capacity.
This leadership change comes at a pivotal moment for Eternal, which is enjoying strong tailwinds. In Q4 FY25, the company clocked a 64% year-on-year jump in revenue, reaching Rs 5,833 crore, up from Rs 3,562 crore in the same quarter last year. The food delivery business contributed 35% of the total operating income, showcasing its continued relevance despite Eternal’s diversified bets.
Mangla has been with Eternal since March 2021, steadily rising through the ranks with key leadership roles across product, supply chain, and customer experience. Before joining the company, he held senior P&L and product leadership positions in prominent tech-first startups.
The appointment also comes at a time when Eternal’s stock closed at Rs 261.2 on Friday, giving the company a market capitalization of Rs 2,52,067 crore (~$29.6 billion)—a reflection of investor confidence in its evolving strategy.
As Mangla steps into his new role, industry watchers are keen to see how he leverages Eternal’s momentum to shape the next chapter of growth in India’s fiercely competitive food delivery landscape.
