Bessemer Venture Partners Appoints Mayank Khanduja as Partner for India Practice

Global venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners has appointed Mayank Khanduja as Partner in its India practice, nearly nine months after he exited Elevation Capital, where he spent 15 years.

Khanduja will be based at Bessemer’s Bengaluru office and will focus on early-stage investments in India, partnering with founders from their first institutional funding round onwards.

15 Years of Venture Investing Experience

Khanduja brings around 15 years of venture investing experience across sectors including consumer technology, gaming, healthcare, artificial intelligence and deeptech.

During his tenure at Elevation Capital, Khanduja backed a number of Indian startups, including ShareChat, NoBroker, PlaySimple Games, Jeh Aerospace, MOC Cancer Care, Loop Health, Atlys, Seekho, General Autonomy and PierSight.

Before joining Elevation Capital, Khanduja worked at McKinsey, where he gained experience in strategy and consulting.

Commenting on the appointment, Vishal Gupta, Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, said Khanduja’s experience of working with founders at the earliest stages and his exposure across consumer technology and AI would strengthen the firm’s early-stage investment practice in India.

Khanduja said Bessemer’s research-led approach and track record made it a strong platform for partnering with founders from the early stages of company building.

Bessemer Expands India Investment Focus

Bessemer Venture Partners has been investing in India for more than two decades and has built a portfolio spanning sectors such as fintech, consumer technology, enterprise software and healthcare.

Its India portfolio includes companies such as Medi Assist, Perfios, Swiggy and Urban Company. More recent investments include Sarvam, Boldfit, Vetic, Easebuzz, Inrisk and Pluro.

In March 2025, Bessemer announced its second India fund with $350 million in capital, targeting sectors including AI, fintech, enterprise technology, healthcare, consumer technology and cybersecurity.

Globally, the firm recently raised $5.75 billion to invest across stages ranging from seed to growth.

Khanduja’s appointment comes as Bessemer continues to build its India investment team and focus on early-stage opportunities across technology-led sectors.
