Early-stage, sector-agnostic venture capital firm Sparrow Capital has announced the final close of its third fund at Rs 475 crore, marking its largest investment vehicle to date. The firm plans to invest in 25 to 30 startups over the next three years with larger cheque sizes as it strengthens its focus on India’s growing early-stage startup ecosystem.
With the new fund, Sparrow Capital will invest $1 million to $2 million as initial capital in selected startups and has already completed five investments. The significantly larger corpus enables the firm to lead or co-lead seed-stage funding rounds while continuing to support founders across diverse sectors.
According to the firm, nearly 60% of the fund’s corpus has been raised from global endowments, foundations, funds of funds, and family offices, while the remaining capital has come from startup founders, operators, Indian family offices, and high-net-worth individuals (HNIs). The firm noted that the latest fund represents a notable evolution in its investor base, which was predominantly non-institutional in its earlier funds.
The third fund is substantially larger than Sparrow Capital’s Rs 120 crore Fund II, which invested in 27 startups with cheque sizes ranging between $300,000 and $500,000. The increased capital base is expected to provide greater flexibility in supporting promising startups from the earliest stages of growth.
Sparrow Capital had announced the first close of the fund at Rs 122 crore in August 2025, backed by existing limited partners and members of the startup ecosystem. The corpus subsequently grew to approximately Rs 280 crore by April 2026 before reaching its final close of Rs 475 crore.
The firm will continue its sector-agnostic investment strategy, while identifying strong founder activity in areas such as consumer technology, fintech, and AI-native software. It also plans to reserve 30% to 40% of the fund for follow-on investments to support high-performing portfolio companies through subsequent funding rounds.
Since its inception, Sparrow Capital has invested in more than 40 startups. Its portfolio includes companies such as GoKwik, ApnaMart, Deconstruct, E6data, Gushwork, Furnishka, Aukera, StrainX, Superhealth, Homerun, and Optimist.
According to the firm, several startups from its first fund—including GoKwik, ApnaMart, and Deconstruct—have reached a stage of maturity that could generate liquidity opportunities over the next two to three years, highlighting the long-term value creation potential of its early-stage investment strategy.
With a significantly larger fund, an increasingly institutional investor base, and continued focus on emerging sectors such as AI and fintech, Sparrow Capital is positioning itself to play a larger role in supporting the next generation of Indian startups.
