S2.dev Raises $3.85 Million Led by Accel to Scale Real-Time Serverless Data Platform

Data infrastructure startup S2.dev has secured $3.85 million in a fresh funding round led by Accel, with participation from Uncorrelated Ventures and other investors.

The company was previously backed by Y Combinator, where it was selected for the Fall 2025 batch. With this latest round, S2.dev has now raised a total of $5.5 million to date.

According to the company, the new capital will be used to speed up product development, expand its managed cloud service to more global regions, and support early enterprise customers.

Founded in 2024 by Shikhar Bhushan, Stephen Balogh, and Dwarak Govind Parthiban, S2.dev is building a serverless datastore designed for real-time and streaming data applications. The platform is aimed at powering collaborative tools, agent-based systems, and multiplayer applications.

At its core, S2.dev offers a serverless streaming database platform that allows developers to manage real-time, fast-moving data without handling infrastructure. The system provides durable, auto-scaling streams that can be accessed through REST APIs. It combines the persistence of object storage with low-latency performance.

The startup enables developers to create unlimited on-demand data streams to model domain data. These streams can be appended, pulled, and managed seamlessly. The company describes its approach as making durable streams a basic cloud storage primitive.

In artificial intelligence use cases, these streams can handle token outputs or communication between multiple AI agents, helping power more advanced, real-time AI applications.

Currently, the real-time data infrastructure market is largely dominated by tools such as Apache Kafka and cloud services like Amazon Kinesis, which are widely used for processing clicks, payments, tracking events, and app notifications. S2.dev aims to simplify and modernize this space with a serverless, developer-friendly approach.

With strong backing from Accel and continued support from leading investors, S2.dev is positioning itself as an emerging player in the real-time data and cloud infrastructure ecosystem.
