Dmodot, the Delhi-based handcrafted luxury footwear brand, has achieved a significant milestone by securing ₹1.35 crore in funding for a 30% equity stake, successfully valuing the company at ₹4.5 crore, on JioHotstar’s flagship business reality series, ‘Pitch to Get Rich’.
Founded by designer-entrepreneur Abhishek Sharma, the investment marks a major national validation for India’s growing Quiet Luxury movement. Dmodot is now one of the first homegrown handcrafted footwear brands to successfully attract major national capital and attention via an Over-The-Top (OTT) platform.
Luxury That Whispers, Now Backed by Bollywood & Business
Abhishek Sharma’s impressive pitch won over the show’s star-studded investor panel, which included Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, and Malaika Arora. The judges lauded dmodot for its blend of handcrafted heritage, ethical sourcing, and modern design sensibility, demonstrating that Indian artisanship can be scaled into a profitable and viable business model.
Malaika Arora praised the brand, stating, “Abhishek’s brand reflects the kind of business India needs — design-driven, scalable, and proudly rooted in Indian craft.”
The successful funding round, secured on the reality show produced by Dharmatic Entertainment in association with the Fashion Entrepreneur Fund (FEF), is a strategic growth catalyst for dmodot.
“This isn’t just a deal; it’s a validation of India’s craftsmanship,” said Abhishek Sharma, Founder & CEO of dmodot. “Securing ₹1.35 crore on Pitch to Get Rich reaffirms that ‘Quiet Luxury’—rooted in design, authenticity, and craftsmanship—has massive potential in India’s modern retail space.”
Future Roadmap: Retail Expansion and Global Ambition
The newly acquired capital will fuel dmodot’s expansion strategy, focusing on both domestic and international growth:
- Domestic Expansion: Expanding its retail and online footprint across Tier-1 cities in India.
- International Launch: Launching an international capsule collection themed “Quiet Luxury, Made in India.”
- Artisan & Sustainability Focus: Strengthening its artisan network and implementing sustainable production processes.
- Tech & Product: Investing in marketing, e-commerce technology, and new product development.
Dmodot, which has offered inclusive sizing from 36–50, plans to open exclusive experience studios in Delhi and Mumbai by mid-2025 and expand its international e-commerce operations across the UAE, UK, and Singapore.
