Econovus Packaging Raises ₹40 Crore in Pre-Series A Round Led by Rainmatter to Scale Sustainable Industrial Packaging

Pune-based sustainable packaging startup Econovus Packaging has raised ₹40 crore in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Rainmatter by Zerodha, with participation from Rockstud Capital. The fresh capital will help the company expand its engineered packaging solutions across high-growth industrial sectors, including automotive, lithium-ion batteries, solar infrastructure, defence, steel, and broader industrial supply chains.

Funding to Accelerate Expansion Across High-Growth Industrial Sectors

The newly raised funds will be deployed to strengthen Econovus Packaging’s presence in industries witnessing rapid growth and increasing demand for sustainable, high-performance packaging solutions.

The company plans to broaden its sustainable packaging platform across sectors such as automotive, clean energy, defence, steel, lithium-ion batteries, solar infrastructure, and industrial manufacturing, enabling enterprises to reduce both operational costs and environmental impact.

Building Sustainable Packaging for Modern Supply Chains

Founded in January 2019 by Ramesh Prasad, Pune-based Econovus Packaging develops engineered, end-to-end packaging and design solutions that help businesses improve logistics efficiency while lowering their carbon footprint.

The company combines proprietary, IP-backed materials with space optimisation techniques and a design-to-cost methodology to create customised packaging solutions that reduce customers’ total cost of ownership without compromising safety or performance.

Its offerings are designed to support increasingly complex industrial supply chains while meeting global packaging and compliance standards.

Wide Portfolio for Industrial and Export Applications

Econovus has developed a diverse range of specialised packaging solutions catering to various industrial applications.

Its portfolio includes UN-certified lithium-ion battery packaging, heavy-duty export packaging, returnable and expendable packaging systems, as well as automotive packaging solutions designed for CKD (Completely Knocked Down), SKD (Semi Knocked Down), and CBU (Completely Built Unit) vehicle formats.

These solutions are engineered to improve container utilisation, optimise transportation efficiency, and enhance product protection throughout domestic and international logistics operations.

Riding India’s Engineering Export Growth

The investment comes at a time when India’s engineering sector continues to witness strong momentum.

According to the Government of India, engineering exports reached a record $122.43 billion, making the sector the country’s largest export contributor and accounting for nearly 28% of India’s total merchandise exports.

As global industrial supply chains continue to expand, the demand for internationally compliant, durable, and environmentally sustainable packaging solutions is expected to rise significantly.

Driving Cost Efficiency and Sustainability

Econovus says its packaging solutions are designed to deliver both operational and environmental benefits for industrial enterprises.

By improving container utilisation and reducing logistics costs, the company’s engineered packaging helps businesses optimise supply chain efficiency while lowering carbon emissions across sectors including automotive, electronics, clean energy, industrial machinery, and electrical equipment.

With sustainability becoming a strategic priority for manufacturers and exporters worldwide, the company aims to position itself as a key enabler of greener and more efficient industrial logistics.

Strengthening India’s Sustainable Manufacturing Ecosystem

The latest funding marks an important milestone in Econovus Packaging’s growth journey as it expands its footprint across India’s rapidly evolving manufacturing and export ecosystem.

Backed by Rainmatter by Zerodha and Rockstud Capital, the company plans to accelerate innovation in sustainable industrial packaging while supporting businesses in building resilient, cost-efficient, and environmentally responsible supply chains.
