Mumbai-based Dovetail Capital, one of India’s leading independent asset-servicing firms, has raised ₹100 crore in a Series A funding round from Elev8 Venture Partners. The round included a mix of primary and secondary capital, marking the company’s first institutional fundraise since its inception in 2017.
The fresh capital will primarily be used to expand Dovetail Capital’s global business operations, as the firm looks to strengthen its presence across international financial markets and scale its technology-driven asset-servicing infrastructure.
The investment comes at a time when India is rapidly emerging as a major global financial hub, with increasing domestic and foreign capital flows driving demand for independent, technology-led financial infrastructure.
Riding India’s Financial Market Expansion
India’s financial ecosystem has witnessed remarkable growth over the past decade.
According to industry data, mutual fund average assets under management (AAUM) reached ₹83.5 trillion in May 2026, representing nearly a six-fold increase in ten years. Meanwhile, the Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) sector’s total commitments grew 25% year-on-year to ₹16.9 trillion as of March 2026.
This surge in capital deployment has created growing demand for reliable, conflict-free asset servicing platforms that can support increasingly sophisticated institutional investment structures.
Dovetail Capital has positioned itself to serve precisely this market.
The company currently services assets worth over $4.5 billion, providing critical infrastructure that enables both global investors entering India and Indian capital expanding overseas.
Building Independent Asset-Servicing Infrastructure
Founded in 2017 by Dev Sampat, Mahesh Shekdar, and Vivek Singhania, Dovetail Capital was established with a clear mission: to provide institutions with an independent, technology-first asset-servicing partner free from conflicts of interest.
Traditionally, asset servicing in India has largely been dominated by large banks that simultaneously operate in asset management, wealth management, and brokerage businesses. This often creates structural conflicts for institutional clients seeking neutral servicing partners.
Dovetail set out to change that model.
The firm provides a wide range of services including:
- Third-party fund management (TPFM)
- Fund administration
- Derivative clearing
- Investment advisory
- Compliance management
Its client base includes foreign portfolio investors, alternative investment funds, family offices, insurers, mutual funds, and algorithmic funds.
Technology at the Core of Operations
A major differentiator for Dovetail Capital is its emphasis on technology-led operations.
The company combines deep regulatory expertise with proprietary infrastructure, including its Dovetail Compliance Management System, which helps clients manage compliance, governance, transparency, and operational control across jurisdictions.
This technology-first approach has become increasingly important as cross-border capital flows grow more complex and regulatory requirements become more demanding.
Dovetail operates from Mumbai and has established a strong presence in GIFT City, India’s emerging international financial services hub. The company also maintains regulated entities in Mauritius, Dubai (DIFC), and Singapore, allowing it to support global capital flows efficiently.
The firm is regulated by key authorities including the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).
Leadership on the Fundraise
Commenting on the fundraise, Dev Sampat, Co-Founder of Dovetail Capital, highlighted the company’s original vision.
“When we started Dovetail, asset servicing in India sat almost entirely inside large banks—the same institutions that also ran asset management, wealth management, and broking businesses. We believed Indian investors deserved an independent, technology-first partner with no competing agenda. This first institutional round validates that conviction and the team that has built on it,” he said.
Why Elev8 Backed Dovetail
For Elev8 Venture Partners, the investment reflects strong conviction in India’s evolving financial infrastructure story.
Navin Honagudi, Managing Partner at Elev8 Venture Partners, noted that India’s emergence as a global financial center presents one of the biggest structural opportunities of the decade.
He emphasized that capital flowing through GIFT City and Indian financial markets requires world-class infrastructure to support it.
According to Honagudi, Dovetail has built a profitable, technology-led, conflict-free platform trusted by institutions managing billions in assets, while demonstrating strong execution in a highly regulated environment.
Positioned for the Next Growth Phase
As India attracts larger pools of domestic and international capital, the need for robust asset-servicing infrastructure is expected to grow significantly.
Financial institutions increasingly require independent partners that can offer transparency, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and technological sophistication across multiple jurisdictions.
With fresh capital from Elev8 Venture Partners, Dovetail Capital is now positioned to accelerate its next growth phase and strengthen its role as a critical infrastructure provider in India’s expanding financial ecosystem.
As capital markets become more interconnected globally, firms like Dovetail are expected to play an increasingly important role in enabling seamless movement of capital across borders.
