In a world where social media has turned into a scroll of algorithms and ads, Currently wants to take us back to where it all began — genuine, human connection.
The real-time social networking app has raised $1 million in a funding round led by Aarvi Family Office LLP, with participation from LJ Knowledge Foundation, Dhruv Patel, Pratik Patel, Neerav Dad, Arpit Patel, Priyank Parmar, and several other investors and family offices.
The fresh infusion of capital will help the team introduce new real-time features, expand its engineering and design teams, enhance technology, and build stronger city-based communities and brand partnerships, the company said in a statement.
Launched in 2023 by Mitesh Shethwala, Currently isn’t just another app — it’s a movement to make online interactions feel more human again. The platform allows users to share what they’re doing in the moment through features like Live Map, Authentic Status Sharing, and Business Check-Ins, helping people discover and connect with others nearby.
“Social media was supposed to make us social in the real world, today, it’s more about entertainment and ads,” said Mitesh Shethwala, founder of Currently “We’re not replacing anything — we’re rebuilding what social media was meant to be.”
With its focus on authenticity, spontaneity, and local discovery, Currently envisions becoming India’s first real-time people network — a digital layer that helps users reconnect with their physical surroundings and celebrate the joy of being present.
