CIMware Secures $2.3M Pre-Series A to Disrupt Data Center Hardware Landscape

In a significant boost to India’s deep-tech ecosystem, Bengaluru-based startup CIMware has raised $2.3 million in pre-Series A funding from Transition VC, a venture capital firm with a sharp focus on energy transition technologies.

Founded by Rajiv Ganth, a veteran technologist who previously led CloudSimple India (which was later acquired by Google), CIMware is quietly revolutionizing the way data centers operate. At the heart of this innovation lies the company’s flagship product: the Composable Infrastructure Module (CIM) — a smart, top-of-rack switch that combines compute, storage, and networking into a single unit.

In an exclusive conversation with Indian Startup Times, Ganth shared the company’s vision: “Today’s data centers are bloated, power-hungry, and space-intensive. CIMware is reimagining the hardware stack with energy-efficient, space-saving modules that deliver better performance and lower costs.”

The startup claims its CIM units can cut power consumption by up to 80%, significantly lower total cost of ownership (TCO), and drastically reduce physical infrastructure footprint. These are compelling value propositions in an era where hyperscale computing is pushing data centers to their limits — both in terms of sustainability and scalability.

The fresh capital will be used to ramp up hardware production and double down on R&D. “We’ve just begun production of our first 20 units,” Ganth revealed, “and they’re scheduled for deployment in Indian data centers by the end of 2025.”

But CIMware isn’t stopping at India. The company is actively exploring international partnerships in South Korea, the UK, and the US, with plans to pursue direct sales in India and the US, while leveraging white-label partnerships in Southeast Asia to scale globally.

The funding and strategic direction mark a major milestone for the startup — and perhaps a turning point for the data center industry.

As global data demand surges and sustainability becomes non-negotiable, CIMware is poised to lead the charge from India, proving once again that bold innovation knows no boundaries.
