Introduction
Recruiting has long been seen as a people-first function. But behind the scenes, it often runs on repetitive tasks, manual follow-ups, and endless screening processes. HireBound was founded to change that.
The founders believe recruiting today is fundamentally broken. Recruiters spend nearly 60 percent of their time on admin work such as sourcing, outreach, screening, and follow-ups instead of building real relationships with candidates. HireBound aims to fill this gap with agentic AI that does not just assist recruiters but autonomously handles the entire recruiting lifecycle. From sourcing candidates to evaluating them, the system works across WhatsApp, SMS, email, and voice calls. The idea came from lived experience. Co-Founder and CTO, Vikram struggled to hire engineers for his YC-backed startup despite strong demand. At the same time, Co-Founder and CEO, Sharad, witnessed recruiter inefficiency firsthand during his time at LinkedIn and Naukri. That shared frustration led to the creation of HireBound.
What Makes HireBound Different From Traditional Hiring Platforms
HireBound’s approach is built around specialized AI agents that work together as a suite.
June, the Engagement Agent, runs autonomous multilingual conversations across calls, SMS, email, and WhatsApp. Screening and Evaluation Agents conduct multi-step assessments and generate structured reports along with role-fit scores. The Recommendation Agent automatically shortlists and ranks candidates with actionable insights.
All of this feeds into a Smart ATS Dashboard that provides real-time pipeline visibility across roles, locations, and campaigns. Underneath it sits an intelligence layer trained on over 2 million resumes, 30,000 job openings, and more than 3 million candidate conversations. This data allows the system to continuously improve.
Convincing Companies to Trust Autonomous Recruiting
Change in hiring practices does not happen overnight. The team admits that resistance is natural, especially when introducing autonomous AI into a traditionally human-driven function.
Instead of asking companies to replace their entire ATS, HireBound starts with a small pilot. Within two weeks, organizations are able to see faster role closures and measurable results. The system integrates into existing workflows, meaning recruiters do not need to change how they work. AI simply makes them more productive. Once companies see the impact, they gradually scale the solution across more roles and higher volumes.
How HireBound Reduces AI Errors and Builds Trust
AI systems are often criticized for hallucinations and data inaccuracies. HireBound addresses this concern in three key ways. First, its intelligence layer is trained on domain-specific data including 2 million real resumes, 30,000 job openings, and 3 million actual candidate conversations rather than generic internet data. Second, it includes human-in-the-loop validation. The system flags edge cases and ambiguous responses for recruiter review while autonomously handling the rest. Third, it uses continuous feedback loops. Every recruiter action such as shortlist, reject, or hire feeds back into the system, helping retrain and improve the models over time.
The Most Exciting Part of Building HireBound
For the founders, the most rewarding outcome has not just been growth metrics but the emotional transformation of recruiters.
Recruiting, they say, once felt like drudgery filled with admin tasks, ghosted candidates, and missed deadlines. Now, recruiters report leaving work at 6 PM instead of 10 PM and spending more time discussing careers with candidates rather than chasing responses. Staffing firms have reportedly closed three times more roles without increasing headcount.
$2 Million Seed Round Validates Early Traction
HireBound recently closed a $2 million Seed round led by Kalaari Capital, one of India’s respected early-stage venture capital firms known for backing category-defining companies. Other participants in the round include Antler, Infinyte Club, and CareerNet. The funding reflects the company’s growing traction, with over 3 million conversations powered and a system trained on millions of resumes and job openings while serving staffing firms and enterprise talent teams globally.
Advice for Young Startup Founders in India
The founders believe the strongest businesses are built on problems you have personally experienced. Their own struggles with hiring gave them clarity that no market research report could provide. They emphasize that revenue validates faster than any pitch deck. Choosing co-founders with complementary strengths is equally important. One brought go-to-market expertise, while the other contributed deep technical knowledge. Neither could have built HireBound alone.
