Introduction
In this conversation with Indian Startup Times, Ms. Mansi Omar, Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer, Jupitice Justice Technologies, discusses the evolution of JusticeTech in India and Jupitice’s journey from a virtual courtroom solution to a broader digital infrastructure platform serving courts, tribunals, regulators, financial institutions and enterprises. She shares how technology is reshaping legal and governance processes, the practical role of AI through Jupitice’s AI Legal Co-Pilot Saya, and the growing need for accountability, transparency and governance as AI becomes increasingly embedded in high-consequence institutional decision-making. The conversation also explores where JusticeTech is headed next and why AI governance could emerge as one of the defining technology priorities of the coming decade.
Q1. Jupitice has grown remarkably since 2019, from a startup to a platform powering over 23 million case journeys. Looking back, what were the key moments that changed the game for the company, and what is the big bet you are making for the next few years?
One of the biggest turning points for us was realising that justice is not limited to courtrooms. Every institution that makes decisions affecting rights, obligations, compliance or accountability is part of a larger justice and governance ecosystem. That insight moved us from building a virtual courtroom solution to creating digital infrastructure for courts, regulators, tribunals, financial institutions and enterprises.
Another defining moment was working closely with institutions such as the Rajasthan High Court, MACT tribunals and RERA authorities. These engagements taught us that technology cannot simply digitise paperwork; it must understand and operationalise the rules, workflows and governance structures that drive institutional decision-making.
The milestone of enabling more than 23 million case journeys, serving over 10 million users, onboarding 180+ institutions and building a network of more than 4,000 ADR professionals validated our belief that institutions need configurable infrastructure rather than isolated software products.
Looking ahead, our biggest bet is AI governance. As organisations increasingly embed AI into operational workflows, the critical question will not be whether AI is adopted, but how it is governed, monitored and held accountable. We believe that will become one of the defining technology challenges of the next decade.
Q2. JusticeTech as a category is still quite nascent in India. How do you create awareness and build trust among institutions that have never worked with a technology partner in this space before?
The honest answer is that you do not sell technology to institutions in this sector; you solve a problem they are already experiencing. Every court understands its pendency challenges. Every tribunal knows its backlog. Every regulator is looking for greater transparency and efficiency. The need already exists.
Trust in JusticeTech is built through three things: domain understanding, process fidelity and proven outcomes. Institutions need confidence that the technology understands how their processes actually work, respects procedural requirements and can operate reliably in real-world environments.
We have also found that the biggest barrier is often not resistance to change, but a lack of exposure to what modern digital infrastructure can achieve. Once institutions see a comparable organisation successfully using technology to improve visibility, efficiency and accountability, adoption becomes a much easier conversation.
Q3. Jupitice’s platform is built on an AI-powered no-code architecture. How does this work in practice when deploying it for a High Court versus a large private financial institution, and where does Saya, your AI Legal Co-Pilot, fit into that workflow?
The core architecture is designed to be domain-agnostic. Whether it is a High Court, a regulator, a tribunal or a financial institution, the underlying platform remains the same. What changes is the configuration of rules, workflows, roles and decision-making processes.
For example, a High Court may require judicial hierarchies, hearing schedules, cause lists and order management workflows. A financial institution may require loan recovery workflows, dispute management processes, compliance checkpoints and customer resolution mechanisms. The same platform supports both environments without maintaining separate technology stacks.
Saya, our AI Legal Co-Pilot, operates as an assistive intelligence layer on top of this infrastructure. It helps users with legal research, document analysis, drafting assistance, summarisation, compliance reviews and risk identification.
Importantly, Saya does not make decisions. It works within the governance framework configured for each institution, ensuring that AI enhances human decision-making rather than replacing it.
Q4. Jupitice works across a wide range of clients, from courts and government bodies to banks, enterprises and regulatory authorities. What does this tell us about where demand for digital justice solutions is coming from, and which sectors are leading adoption?
The demand pattern is becoming increasingly clear. Any institution that manages structured decision-making processes involving multiple stakeholders, approvals, compliance obligations and accountability requirements is a potential adopter of digital justice infrastructure.
Government departments, courts and regulatory bodies were among the early adopters, largely driven by digital transformation initiatives and the need to improve service delivery. However, some of the fastest-growing demand today is coming from banks, financial institutions and large enterprises.
Today, our platform supports over 180 institutions across judicial, government, regulatory and enterprise ecosystems. We work with High Courts, State Legal Services Authorities, regulators, public authorities, financial institutions and leading enterprises across sectors.
This diversity of clients reinforces a key trend: organisations are recognising that legal, compliance and governance functions can no longer operate through spreadsheets, emails and disconnected systems.
As decision-making becomes more complex and regulatory expectations continue to rise, institutions are looking for platforms that provide structure, visibility and traceability across critical processes. That shift is driving adoption across both public and private sectors and is expanding the scope of JusticeTech far beyond the traditional judicial ecosystem.
Q5. As you look at the next three to five years, the conversation around AI in legal and justice systems is getting louder globally. Where do you see this category heading, and what is the opportunity you are most excited about for Jupitice specifically?
Over the next few years, the industry will move from experimenting with AI to operationalising it. AI will increasingly become part of core legal, regulatory and governance workflows rather than being limited to research, drafting or productivity tools.
As that transition happens, governance will become the central issue. Institutions will need to answer fundamental questions around accountability, explainability, auditability and compliance. Who is responsible when an AI system gets something wrong? How do organisations ensure that AI operates within established rules and policies? These questions will become increasingly important.
The opportunity that excites us most is the convergence of justice infrastructure and AI governance. Today, these are often viewed as separate conversations. We believe they will become inseparable.
Every AI system operating in a regulated or high-consequence environment will require governance controls, and every digital governance framework will require structured institutional processes. Building that intersection is where we see one of the most significant opportunities for Jupitice in the years ahead.
