Indian luxury watch brand Bangalore Watch Company (BWC) has raised $1.4 million in a seed funding round from a group of its customers, including family office principals and high-net-worth individuals from India and overseas.
The fresh capital will be used to strengthen BWC’s presence in the global independent watch market. The company plans to focus on two to three strategic overseas locations in markets with established watch collector communities, while also evaluating the addition of another location in India.
Founded in 2018 by Nirupesh Joshi and Mercy Amalraj, Bangalore Watch Company designs and manufactures mechanical watches in India and currently exports its timepieces to more than 30 countries.
Building a Global Indian Watch Brand
BWC’s collections draw inspiration from themes including aviation, space, cricket and the outdoors, with the brand focusing on contemporary Indian stories and experiences.
The company currently operates a single flagship boutique in Bengaluru and offers watches priced between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh.
BWC has an annual production capacity of around 1,500 watches and plans to increase this capacity fourfold over the next three to five years as it expands its domestic and international presence.
Focus on Materials and Watchmaking
Bangalore Watch Company has developed watches using specialised materials, including recovered fighter-plane aluminium and materials sourced from aircraft carriers.
The company has also developed its proprietary Cerasteel material and created a watch that qualified for spaceflight, adding to its focus on engineering-led watchmaking.
The brand has participated in international watch industry events, including Dubai Watch Week 2025 and Geneva Watch Days 2026. Its watches have also been listed for the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Awards three times.
Expanding Internationally
With the latest funding, BWC plans to establish a presence in select international markets where established watch collector communities could provide a base for the brand’s expansion.
The company is positioning its watches within India’s emerging independent watchmaking segment while using its international distribution and participation in global watch events to build visibility among collectors.
The planned expansion will focus on a limited number of overseas locations rather than a broad retail rollout, alongside a potential additional store in India.
With increased production capacity and a growing international footprint, Bangalore Watch Company aims to further establish its identity as an Indian independent watchmaker in the global luxury watch market.
