Farm Watt Innovations Raises ₹32.5 Crore Co-Led by IAN Alpha Fund and Rainmatter to Expand Biomass Supply Chain

Climate-focused agribusiness startup Farm Watt Innovations has raised ₹32.5 crore (approximately $3.36 million) in a funding round co-led by IAN Alpha Fund and Rainmatter. The investment will support the company’s mission to strengthen India’s biomass supply chain and accelerate the country’s transition towards renewable bioenergy.

The fresh capital will be utilized to expand Farm Watt Innovations’ biomass collection network, establish additional biomass aggregation hubs, invest in advanced machinery, strengthen supply chain infrastructure, and grow its workforce to meet the increasing demand for sustainable biomass solutions.

Founded in 2023 by Kumar Neelendu, Farm Watt Innovations is building a technology-enabled biomass aggregation platform that collects and supplies agricultural biomass to Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants and other bioenergy facilities. By converting agricultural waste into renewable energy feedstock, the startup aims to reduce crop residue burning while creating a sustainable value chain for farmers and the clean energy sector.

Crop residue burning remains one of India’s major environmental challenges, contributing significantly to air pollution across several northern states. Farm Watt Innovations addresses this issue by transforming agricultural waste into valuable biomass that can be utilized for renewable energy production, supporting both climate action and rural economic development.

The startup currently operates 15 biomass aggregation hubs across six Indian states and is preparing for rapid expansion. It plans to establish operations across Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar, significantly expanding its nationwide biomass sourcing network.

Beyond biomass aggregation, Farm Watt Innovations is also planning to build its own portfolio of Compressed Biogas (CBG), bio-pellet, and biochar plants, strengthening its position across the bioenergy value chain and contributing to India’s growing clean energy ecosystem.

As India continues to accelerate investments in renewable energy and circular economy solutions, the latest funding positions Farm Watt Innovations to play a significant role in developing sustainable agricultural waste management infrastructure while supporting the country’s clean energy ambitions.
