Avni Wellness Raises ₹4 Crore, Backed by Dr. A. Velumani, to Expand Women’s Health Ecosystem

Mumbai-based femtech startup Avni Wellness has raised ₹4 crore in a strategic funding round led by Proteus Partners, with participation from operator-investors Puru Gupta and Sreejith Moolayil, Dr. A. Velumani, founder of Thyrocare, and impact investor Somya Nigam. The company plans to raise an additional ₹15 crore over the next 12 months as it accelerates growth in India’s women’s health market. The fresh capital will be deployed to strengthen the company’s digital commerce capabilities, expand its cycle nutrition portfolio, and scale its women-led distribution network across the country.

Funding to Accelerate Growth Across Women’s Health

Avni Wellness will use the newly raised funds to strengthen its direct-to-consumer (D2C) business, expand product offerings in women’s nutrition, and build a network of 10,000 women microentrepreneurs across Bharat.

The company aims to deepen its presence across digital channels while expanding on major marketplaces such as Amazon and quick commerce platforms. Currently, nearly 75% of Avni Wellness’ revenue comes through D2C and e-commerce channels, with a strong focus on improving customer retention and sustainable profitability.

Building an Integrated Women’s Health Platform

Founded by Sujata Pawar and Apurv Agarwal, Avni Wellness is building a science-backed women’s healthcare platform that goes beyond menstrual hygiene to address nutrition, hormonal health, and preventive wellness.

The company believes India’s women’s health market is evolving from a hygiene-focused category toward a more comprehensive lifecycle approach that integrates nutrition, preventive healthcare, and hormonal wellness.

Its product portfolio includes India’s first patented antimicrobial reusable sanitary pad, a liposomal iron supplement designed for improved nutrient absorption, and solutions for PCOS management, calcium support, UTI and vaginal health, and seed-based hormonal nutrition.

Investor Confidence in Bharat-Focused Women’s Health

The funding round was led by Proteus Partners, one of Avni Wellness’ earliest institutional investors, which has continued to support the company’s ecosystem-driven growth strategy.

The round also saw participation from Puru Gupta and Sreejith Moolayil, former co-founders of True Elements, bringing deep consumer brand and D2C expertise. Veteran entrepreneur Dr. A. Velumani, founder of Thyrocare, and impact investor Somya Nigam invested through Bharat ke Super Founders, reinforcing confidence in the company’s integrated approach to women’s healthcare and Bharat-focused distribution model.

Leadership on the Company’s Vision

Commenting on the fundraise, Sujata Pawar, Founder of Avni Wellness, said:

“Women’s health is often perceived as just periods and sanitary pads. It is time we take an integrated approach to care for different phases and life stages of a woman’s life. We are building a system that connects these parts and looks at women’s health across different stages of life. This funding will help us expand our portfolio across hygiene and nutrition that is relevant to Bharat.”

Apurv Agarwal, Co-founder of Avni Wellness, added:

“We have focused on building a strong foundation from the ground up. This fundraise will enable us to scale with the right product, channel, and profitability mix.”

Expanding Access to Women’s Healthcare Across India

Avni Wellness is positioning itself at the intersection of women’s health, sustainability, and livelihood creation through its philosophy of “By Women, For Women, Via Women.”

The company’s long-term strategy is to build a scalable hybrid model that combines digital commerce with a women-led distribution network, allowing it to serve both urban and rural consumers through a unified women’s health ecosystem.

With India’s femtech market continuing to expand and increasing awareness around preventive healthcare, Avni Wellness aims to build an integrated platform that supports women through every stage of life from adolescence to menopause while creating meaningful economic opportunities for women entrepreneurs across the country.
