Introduction
The name 3 Sisters Drinks often sparks curiosity, and the founders are used to being asked about it. The brand originally started with three flavors in the non-alcoholic beer category. Since the branding around those three flavors was well received and appreciated, the team decided to name the company 3 Sisters. Over time, the brand expanded into multiple categories and SKUs, but the name remained as a reminder of how it all began.
Why They Chose the Non-Alcoholic Beverage Space
When the founders entered the industry, they noticed a clear gap in the Indian market. Consumers had limited options such as regular cola or energy drinks. At the same time, people enjoyed the social experience of drinking, celebrating, and going out, but not everyone wanted alcohol every time.
They saw an opportunity to create flavorful drinks that could be enjoyed in social settings without alcohol. According to the founders, the non-alcoholic beverage market in India has been booming in recent years. The demand has increased significantly, especially among Gen Z and millennials. They believed this was the right time to build a modern brand that offers great taste and a fun lifestyle experience without alcohol.
Personal Favourite Products From the Brand
Among their range, Co-Founder Akshay Solanki’s personal favourites come from both the non-alcoholic beer and indie soda categories. In the non-alcoholic beer segment, Cranberry and Kiwi Mint stand out. In the Indie Soda category, Classic Shikanji is a special favourite.
All these flavours are described as having a refreshing balance of sweet and tangy taste. Classic Shikanji holds a nostalgic value while still feeling like a contemporary beverage, making it a unique blend of tradition and modern appeal.
More Than Just Another Soft Drink Brand
One thing the team wishes customers understood better is that 3 Sisters Drinks is not just another soft drink brand. The focus is on creating a complete drinking experience. The founders want consumers to enjoy their beverages in social settings such as parties, restaurants, or even at home, without feeling like they are missing out on something. The idea is to offer an experience that feels celebratory and premium, even without alcohol.
The Joy of Seeing the Brand Grow
One of the most enjoyable parts of building the company has been seeing their products placed on crowded shelves alongside major beverage giants. Finding space among established brands gives the team a strong sense of achievement and motivates them to keep improving.
Customer reactions are another major source of joy. When someone tries the drink for the first time and says it reminds them of a party, a beach vibe, or a celebration, it makes the hard work worthwhile. The founders also cherish building this journey together as a team.
The Hardest Challenges Along the Way
Like most startups, 3 Sisters Drinks has faced its share of challenges. The biggest hurdle has been building a strong distribution network and reaching the right outlets where the product fits well. Growing a brand from scratch requires patience, persistence, and constant learning.
Another major task has been educating the market. Since the concept is different from traditional soft drinks, a lot of effort goes into explaining the product and encouraging people to try something new. However, every new outlet and every new customer discovery feels like a small win that keeps the team going.
Shark Tank Appearance and Funding Details
A proud milestone for the company was being featured on Shark Tank Season 5. Although they did not receive funding on the show, reaching that stage in a short span of time was seen as a major achievement for the entire team.
Currently, the company has diluted 12 percent equity. Out of this, 10 percent has come from friends and family, while 2 percent has been raised as strategic investment from a Dubai-based entity.
The Founders and a Story of Grit
3 Sisters Drinks is led by four founders: Akshay Solanki, Nimish Solanki, Manish Kanunga, and Sanjay Prasad Bari.
Sanjay Prasad Bari’s journey continues to inspire the team. He started by driving an auto-rickshaw in Mumbai. Later, he began running small soda pub counters outside railway stations. From owning one soda pub, he quickly expanded to twelve and eventually set up a beverage manufacturing plant.
His journey was neither overnight nor easy, but it stands as proof that where you start does not define where you can go. As the founders say, it is not about where and how you start. It is about hard work and a never-give-up attitude.
