Voice AI Pioneer Bolna Secures $6.3M Seed Lead by General Catalyst; Daily Call Volume Surges 130x

Bolna, the Bengaluru-based enterprise voice AI startup, has secured $6.3 million in a seed funding round led by global venture giant General Catalyst. The round saw significant participation from Y Combinator, Blume Ventures, Orange Collective, Pioneer Fund, Transpose Capital, and Eight Capital, alongside a group of prominent angel investors.

The fresh capital will be deployed to aggressively expand Bolna’s engineering and deployment teams, develop proprietary machine learning models for vernacular speech, and fortify the infrastructure required for massive, enterprise-grade deployments across India’s complex linguistic landscape.

Scaling the “Next Billion” Voice Layer

Founded in 2024 by Maitreya Wagh and Prateek Sachan, Bolna is building a self-serve orchestration platform that enables enterprises to design, deploy, and manage human-like voice agents within minutes. Unlike traditional IVR systems that rely on rigid menus, Bolna’s platform is designed for real-world telephony conditions, effectively managing regional accents, noisy environments, and “code-switching” (mixing languages like Hindi and English).

Since its first commercial rollout in May 2025, Bolna has witnessed exponential traction:

  • Call Volume Explosion: Daily call volumes have skyrocketed from 1,500 to over 200,000 calls per day—a staggering 130x growth in under a year.

  • Rapid Adoption: The platform now serves over 1,050 paying customers.

  • Enterprise Trust: Large-scale companies like Varun Beverages (PepsiCo’s largest bottler in India) and high-growth startups like Spinny and Snabbit are already using Bolna to manage core workflows.

Orchestration: The Key to Multi-Model Efficiency

Bolna differentiates itself through its orchestration layer. Rather than being locked into a single AI provider, Bolna intelligently routes every call to the “best-fit” model based on the language, use case, and desired latency. This flexibility is critical for industries like BFSI, logistics, and recruitment, where a recruitment screening call requires different reasoning than a quick delivery confirmation.

A “Market-First” Approach to India

Bolna was the only India-focused startup in its Y Combinator cohort, a testament to the scale of the voice market in India, where over one billion calls occur daily. While the company currently serves clients in over 10 countries, India remains the primary frontier.
