Marketing That Moves People: Vishwajeet Singh on Shaping India’s Mobility Future

Introduction

In the dynamic world of Indian startups, few stories shine as brightly as that of Vishwajeet Singh, the Head of Marketing at Zypp Electric. His journey, marked by empathy, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability, offers invaluable lessons for aspiring leaders and entrepreneurs across the country. As we delve into his journey, we uncover the philosophies and strategies that have propelled both him and Zypp Electric to the forefront of India’s mobility revolution.

From Humble Beginnings to Marketing Leadership

Vishwajeet’s professional odyssey began in the fast-paced fintech sector, where he joined Mobico (now MobiKwik) in 2015. At the time, the company was a 70-person team locked in fierce competition with industry giants. “We were running back-to-back campaigns, always pushing the envelope to attract users,” he recalls. However, it was here that Vishwajeet learned a defining lesson: that lasting success is built not on rapid cash burn, but on sustainability, discipline, and thoughtful execution.

Mentored by leaders who valued agility and prudent resource management, Vishwajeet quickly rose through the ranks, designing campaigns that set new benchmarks in the industry. When his mentor decided to embark on a new entrepreneurial venture, Vishwajeet saw it as a moment to step out of his comfort zone. “Growing in a comfort zone wouldn’t be sustainable for my career,” he reflects. This pivotal decision led him to join Zypp Electric as one of its founding members in 2017.

Defining Marketing with Empathy and Trust

For Vishwajeet, marketing is not just about numbers or flashy campaigns but more about empathy. “Empathy plays a lot of a role in scaling your brand,” he asserts. He believes that truly effective marketing is human-centric, focusing on the needs and aspirations of both customers and internal teams. By fostering an environment where feedback is valued and emotions are acknowledged, Vishwajeet has cultivated a brand that resonates deeply with its stakeholders.

At Zypp Electric, where gig workers form the backbone of the business, this approach is especially critical. “Trust becomes the KPI for me,” he explains. By prioritising authenticity and addressing the real challenges faced by delivery partners, Zypp Electric has not only built a sustainable business but also positively impacted countless lives.

Navigating the Quick Commerce Revolution

The rise of quick commerce has transformed consumer expectations, often placing immense pressure on delivery partners. Vishwajeet offers a nuanced perspective on this trend: “We are enablers, and we need to comply with the service levels we sign up for. But as customers, we must also be empathetic to the realities faced by delivery partners.” He advocates for a shift in consumer mindset, valuing patience and understanding over instant gratification. This, he believes, will create a more balanced and humane ecosystem for all stakeholders.

The Distinction Between Good and Great Marketing

Vishwajeet’s philosophy distinguishes between good and great marketing. “Good marketing focuses on immediate goals, but great marketing focuses on long-term goals,” he notes. For him, the ultimate objective is to build lasting relationships and trust with customers, transforming them into brand ambassadors. This long-term vision is evident in Zypp Electric’s commitment to its delivery partners, ensuring they find not just employment but empowerment and growth through the platform.

Pioneering Sustainability and Data-Driven Impact

Sustainability is at the heart of Zypp Electric’s mission. “Our key motive is mission zero emission,” Vishwajeet shares. Rather than simply providing electric vehicles, Zypp Electric has created an entire ecosystem that benefits OEMs, gig workers, and end customers alike. Data-driven insights enable the company to optimize opportunities for delivery partners, helping them maximize earnings while reducing emissions.

Innovative campaigns, such as “Mission Saaf Hawa 2030,” encourage public conversations around air quality and environmental responsibility. By fostering awareness rather than overtly pitching the brand, Zypp Electric has achieved organic traction in its previous campaign of “GreenHaiTohZyppHai” which garnered 30Million impressions with all organic and UGC driven measures and with such, Zypp Electric set itself apart in the crowded mobility sector

Reinventing Modern Marketing

One of Vishwajeet’s most memorable challenges, he recalls, is around Zypp’s initiatives called “Zypp Ads,” a hyperlocal branding strategy that leverages Zypp’s extensive EV fleet as moving billboards. This creative approach has attracted major brands and demonstrated the power of non-traditional marketing channels. “If you see five lakh deliveries a month, that shows our reach and penetration,” he says, highlighting the brand’s innovative spirit.

Leadership Rooted in Empathy and Purpose

Throughout his career, Vishwajeet has championed a leadership style grounded in empathy and authenticity. “Being more grounded makes more sense to me,” he emphasizes. By always considering the needs and perspectives of both customers and team members, he ensures that Zypp Electric’s growth is never at the expense of its core values. A happy team with a strong company DNA creates a happy experience for their customers, and Happy customers result in bigger growth.

Looking Ahead: Technology, Mobility, and Meaningful Impact

As the mobility and technology sectors continue to evolve, Vishwajeet is excited about the opportunities ahead. Zypp Electric’s proprietary technology empowers both gig workers and business partners with real-time insights, enhancing efficiency and transparency. The company’s data-driven approach has already resulted in significant carbon savings, equivalent to planting hundreds of thousands of trees. Sustainability is the future, and with this we’re in the dawn of a bigger horizon which will unfold as it grows and everything in the world will revolve around sustainability, with growing global warming challenges, and technology plays a crucial role in this.

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Leaders

Vishwajeet’s advice for young professionals is both humble and inspiring: “A Degree gives you direction, not your destiny.” He encourages openness to change, resilience in the face of setbacks, and a relentless focus on making a positive impact in others’ lives. “Success will come to you automatically if you start thinking about solving the problems of people and what impact you are making in their lives and have a ‘we’ factor rather than a ‘me’ factor,” he concludes.

Vishwajeet Singh’s journey is a testament to the power of empathy and purpose-driven leadership, a beacon for India’s next generation of startup leaders.
