Moxie Beauty, one of India’s fastest-growing haircare brands, has raised $15 million in Series A funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The round also saw participation from existing investor Fireside Ventures, along with angel investors Navin Parwal, Sangeet Agarwal, and Arjun Purkayastha. Earlier backers of the brand include Shantanu Deshpande, Suhasini Sampath, and Rohit Kapoor, among others.
The fresh capital will be deployed towards product innovation and research, talent acquisition, and expansion of distribution channels, as the company strengthens its position in India’s rapidly evolving beauty and personal care market.
India presents a unique haircare challenge, with nearly 85% of the population having textured hair, compared to just 17% in the US. Combined with India’s hot and humid climate, this often leads to frizz, dehydration, hair damage, and hair fall—issues that have historically been underserved by conventional haircare brands. These gaps are felt even more acutely by Gen Z and Gen Alpha consumers, who seek high-performance, modern solutions tailored to Indian needs.
Founded in 2023 by Nikita Khanna and Anmol Ahlawat, Moxie Beauty was born from Khanna’s personal search for clean, salon-grade haircare products designed specifically for Indian hair textures and weather conditions. Today, the brand offers a comprehensive portfolio of 19 products spanning haircare, maintenance, styling, and scalp health.
Beyond staples such as shampoos and conditioners, Moxie has introduced new-age styling formats like the On The Fly Hair Finishing Stick and Headliner Hair Wax Stick, alongside category-first innovations such as its Dandruff Detox Serum, which combines exfoliating acids with barrier-building oils for a holistic approach to scalp health.
Innovation lies at the core of Moxie’s product philosophy. The brand sources nearly 50% of its raw materials internationally and develops formulations from scratch, often taking up to two years per product to ensure performance and suitability for Indian conditions. Several of its offerings are among the first of their kind in India—and in some cases, globally.
Moxie’s rapid growth underscores its strong product-market fit. The company has crossed ₹100 crore in ARR within two years of launch, recorded a 4x increase in monthly revenue over the past year, and achieved over 40% customer retention. Additionally, 10 of its products rank among category bestsellers on Nykaa and Amazon, with core products such as shampoos and conditioners consistently leading sales charts.
Commenting on the fundraise, Nikita Khanna, Co-founder of Moxie Beauty, said,
“We started Moxie to build what didn’t exist—clean, high-performance haircare made specifically for Indian hair textures and weather. With this funding, we are excited to deepen our R&D capabilities and continue innovating the next generation of haircare and styling solutions for our community.”
Anant Vidur Puri, Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, added,
“Our partnership with Moxie aligns strongly with our belief that aspirational and discerning Indian consumers will fuel the rise of iconic, India-first consumer brands. The team’s sharp focus on formulation excellence and innovation is reflected in the strong customer love they have built.”
With this Series A raise, Moxie Beauty is poised to accelerate its mission of redefining haircare for India’s diverse hair types, while building a globally relevant, innovation-led beauty brand.
