Moonrider Secures $6M in Series A for Electric Tractor Commercial Rollout

Bengaluru-based electric tractor technology company Moonrider has successfully closed a $6 million Series A funding round, marking a major step toward the commercial launch of its heavy-duty electric tractors. The investment was spearheaded by deep-tech focused venture capital firm pi Ventures, with significant participation from Singularity AMC and continued backing from existing investors, Advantedge Founders and Micelio Fund.

Founded in 2023 by Anoop Srikantaswamy, Moonrider is tackling the challenge of rising fuel and operating costs in the agricultural sector by offering a vertically integrated electric tractor platform. The company claims its tractors, which have achieved price parity with traditional diesel models, can reduce farming and land-preparation costs by up to an impressive 80%. The fresh capital is earmarked to accelerate the transition from successful pilot deployments to full-scale commercial production and market expansion. This is a crucial move as India, which sells about one million diesel tractors annually, sees growing demand for sustainable and economical farming solutions to boost farm profitability. Moonrider is one of the few players in the burgeoning Indian electric tractor market with a fully homologated, road-ready product portfolio, positioning it to capitalize on the country’s push for agricultural mechanization and clean energy adoption.
