SpaceFields Raises $5M Pre-Series A to Accelerate Rocket Propulsion Development

Bengaluru-based deeptech startup SpaceFields has secured $5 million (approx. ₹42 crore) in its pre-Series A round, with Globaz Technologies leading the investment. The round also saw participation from Rockstud Capital, Venture Catalysts, Nithin Kamath’s Rainmatter, Burla Angel Network, Faad Capital, SIDBI, O2 Angels, and MeitY Startup Hub, among others.

This marks a significant step up from its earlier $1.3 million seed round in 2024, backed by Jamwant Ventures, HVB 88 Angels, and other investors.

The fresh capital will help scale manufacturing capacity, secure defence-grade certifications, and expand the company’s engineering, operations, and business teams.

Founded in 2021 by Apurwa Masook, Rounak Agrawal, and Sudarshan Samal, SpaceFields is developing solid-fuel propulsion systems tailored for UAVs, rockets, and spacecraft. Unlike conventional players, the company focuses on indigenous, dual-use propulsion technologies, blending defence and commercial aerospace applications.

So far, SpaceFields has:

  • Secured four contracts under the Ministry of Defence’s iDEX initiative

  • Filed and granted four patents for advanced propulsion technologies

  • Positioned itself as a strategic contributor to India’s sovereign aerospace ambitions

As part of the investment, SpaceFields and lead investor Globaz Technologies will work jointly on critical, high-performance propulsion systems that strengthen India’s defence and aerospace supply chain. Globaz brings deep expertise in aerospace electronics design, manufacturing, and testing, complementing SpaceFields’ propulsion innovation.

With global interest in dual-use defence technologies rising, this funding gives SpaceFields the runway to scale as a serious contender among India’s next-generation aerospace startups.
