Hyderabad-based deeptech startup EON Space Labs has raised $1.2 million (approx. ₹10.5 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round led by MGF Kavachh, with additional participation from HHV Advanced Technologies.
The company plans to utilize the fresh capital to scale up manufacturing of its AI-powered electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) payloads, expand its engineering team, and support upcoming product launches, the startup announced in a press release.
Founded in 2022 by Sanjay Kumar, Punit Badeka, and Manoj Kumar Gaddam, EON Space Labs is an IIT Madras-incubated venture building next-generation Earth Observation (EO) imaging payloads for satellites, drones, and ground systems. The company specializes in miniaturised, high-resolution EO/IR systems that are up to three times lighter and more compact than traditional payloads—significantly reducing deployment costs without sacrificing image quality.
EON’s vertically integrated approach, covering everything from optical design to in-house prototyping and manufacturing, enables the startup to maintain speed, precision, and control across the value chain.
Its flagship products include:
-
MIRA: a space telescope currently undergoing validation.
-
LUMIRA: an EO/IR platform certified to military standards, designed for robust, long-range surveillance.
EON Space Labs is also forging international partnerships and has already secured multiple commercial orders following successful proof-of-concept demonstrations. Looking ahead, the startup plans to roll out four new variants of its LUMIRA systems aimed at long-range detection of humans, vehicles, threats, and UAVs—particularly suited for drone and ground-based surveillance applications.
The funding marks a major step in EON’s mission to revolutionize Earth imaging and situational awareness with advanced, compact, and cost-effective payload solutions.
