Meesho Open-Sources Key AI Tools to Empower Indian Startups with BharatMLStack

In a move set to bolster India’s growing AI and startup ecosystem, e-commerce giant Meesho has open-sourced crucial components of its in-house machine learning platform, BharatMLStack. The company announced that these tools are now available on GitHub, offering Indian developers and early-stage startups access to powerful AI infrastructure previously used only internally.

BharatMLStack has been two years in the making and powers Meesho’s massive daily data workflows—processing close to 1.91 petabytes of data. The release includes Meesho’s feature store, orchestration interface, control plane, and software development kits (SDKs)—critical building blocks for real-time AI systems.

These tools have supported Meesho’s machine learning operations at scale. In FY25 alone, the platform enabled a staggering 66.9 trillion feature retrievals and over 3.12 trillion real-time predictions, helping the company deliver high-performance experiences during mega shopping events like the Mega Blockbuster Sale in March 2025.

With the open-sourcing of its feature store, Meesho aims to help AI and data teams significantly reduce model deployment time by offering consistent access to precomputed signals. This has huge potential for startups working on real-time use cases such as fraud detection, dynamic pricing, and personalized recommendations.

“By opening up BharatMLStack, we want to give back to the developer community that has always been at the heart of India’s digital growth. We hope these tools accelerate innovation across the ecosystem,” a Meesho spokesperson said.

The company has also invited developer contributions to the project via GitHub, with plans to roll out more modules from BharatMLStack in upcoming releases.

Adding to the momentum, Meesho recently completed its reverse flip to India, with the final approval from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) last month. The move aligns with its long-term vision of building a tech-first, India-rooted company.

This open-source initiative marks a significant moment for India’s AI landscape—making enterprise-grade tools accessible to those building the next wave of innovation from the ground up.
