Sweden-based global technology collective QGroup has entered India’s product engineering space through a new partnership with Indian tech entrepreneur Deepak Kumar Choubey. Together, they have launched Sliq Group, formally known as Software Labs India with QGroup (SLIQ Group). Operating across more than 15 countries, QGroup is part of the larger Nexer Group. With this move, the billion-dollar technology collective is making a structured re-entry into India’s product engineering and digital experience ecosystem.
Focus on Product Thinking, Not Just IT Services
Unlike traditional IT services firms that dominate India’s technology exports, Sliq Group aims to position itself as a product-focused company. The new venture will focus on building globally competitive digital products from India, with a strong emphasis on user experience, product strategy, and scalable platforms. The partnership brings together QGroup’s leadership team, including Mikael Kretz, Hakan Paulsson and Jon Carvell — with Deepak Kumar Choubey, an IIT Madras alumnus whose career spans global institutions like CERN as well as Indian enterprises.
Deepak has previously held leadership roles at Schbang Tech and SchbangQ and worked on technology projects at CERN. He is also the founder of EpitomeAI and has been selected for Draper University’s Silicon Valley accelerator programme. Earlier in his career, he worked with ITC Limited and ICICI Bank.
$2.5 Million Investment Roadmap
Sliq Group’s community plans to invest up to $2.5 million over the next three years. The capital will be used to build AI-powered tools and digital platforms aimed at helping businesses improve operations and reduce time-to-market. The roadmap also includes expanding the team and exploring acquisitions of boutique product and technology firms in India.
The company says it wants to address a key gap in India’s technology ecosystem. While India is known for large-scale software execution, areas such as product craftsmanship, user experience design, and integrated product strategy still have room to grow compared to global markets.
Blending Scandinavian Design with Indian Engineering
Sliq Group plans to combine Scandinavian design sensibilities from QGroup with India’s engineering scale and speed. Its services will cover product strategy and design, e-commerce and SaaS solutions, AI-powered workflow systems, full-stack development, enterprise digital transformation, and legacy system modernisation. The target clients include growth-stage startups, mid-market firms, and enterprises seeking stronger product capabilities.
Industry observers see this move as part of a larger trend of “India in-sourcing”, where digital products are not just developed but also conceptualised and designed in India for global markets.
For QGroup, the India entry signals confidence in the country’s ability to move up the global technology value chain, from execution hub to product innovation centre.
