Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has unveiled Reliance Intelligence, a new artificial intelligence–focused subsidiary, with Google and Meta onboard as strategic partners.
The new entity will focus on four key areas:
-
Building gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar
-
Partnering with global tech companies & open-source communities
-
Deploying AI across education, healthcare, agriculture, and small businesses
-
Attracting global AI talent to India
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said the company will collaborate with Reliance to bring AI into businesses spanning energy, retail, telecom, and financial services. As part of the alliance, Google and Reliance will set up a dedicated Jamnagar Cloud region.
Reliance will also form a joint venture with Meta to develop sovereign, enterprise-ready AI platforms for Indian companies and government bodies. The venture will combine Meta’s open-source Llama models with Reliance’s scale in energy, telecom, retail, and manufacturing. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the collaboration aims to “ensure access to AI for everyone in India, and eventually to superintelligence.”
The launch marks Reliance’s latest move to diversify beyond oil-to-chemicals into technology and next-gen sectors. The conglomerate has already built Jio into India’s largest telecom operator, scaled Reliance Retail into a global powerhouse, and committed billions towards clean energy giga factories.
RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani said:
“Jio delivered digital everywhere for every Indian, and Reliance Intelligence will deliver AI everywhere for every Indian.”
