Climate technology startup Mitti Labs has raised $9.5 million in a funding round led by Aramco Ventures, the venture capital arm of Saudi Aramco. The round also witnessed participation from existing and new investors, including Lightspeed India, Godrej Industries Group, Cisco Foundation, Francis Family Fund, and Volta Circle.
The latest investment follows the company’s earlier $3 million funding round and will be used to strengthen its presence across India while supporting its expansion into the Philippines and Indonesia, the company said in a press release.
Co-founded in 2023 by Devdut Dalal and Xavier Laguarta Soler, Mitti Labs develops AI-powered solutions that enable climate-smart farming through satellite-based monitoring and digital carbon measurement technologies. The company helps farmers adopt water-efficient agricultural practices while generating verified carbon credits that are sold to corporations pursuing net-zero emissions targets.
Headquartered in Bengaluru and New York, Mitti Labs operates at the intersection of AgTech, climate-smart agriculture, digital Measurement, Reporting and Verification (dMRV), and carbon markets. According to the company, its platform currently supports tens of thousands of farmers across multiple Indian states, covering more than 70,000 hectares of farmland.
The startup combines Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite imagery, artificial intelligence, and on-ground field measurements to create digital twins of individual rice fields. This technology enables continuous monitoring of farming practices, accurate carbon accounting, and verification of greenhouse gas emission reductions.
Mitti Labs claims its technology can reduce water consumption by up to 40% while lowering methane emissions by nearly 50%, making rice cultivation more sustainable and environmentally friendly. The company’s projects in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have also received an ‘A’ rating from carbon credit ratings agency Sylvera, underscoring the quality and credibility of its carbon credit initiatives.
The newly raised capital will be used to scale the company’s operations, expand its technology platform, and strengthen partnerships with farmers across new geographies. The expansion into Southeast Asian markets reflects the growing demand for technology-driven agricultural solutions that improve resource efficiency while supporting global climate goals.
As governments and corporations increasingly prioritize decarbonization, climate-focused startups like Mitti Labs are playing a crucial role in bridging agriculture and carbon markets. By combining AI, satellite intelligence, and digital verification systems, the company aims to help farmers improve productivity, conserve natural resources, and unlock new revenue opportunities through carbon credits.
With fresh funding and international expansion plans underway, Mitti Labs is well-positioned to accelerate the adoption of climate-smart agriculture and strengthen its presence in the rapidly evolving global climate technology ecosystem.
