Global Fintech Fest 2025: Nvidia MD Envisions Mumbai as ‘Financial Capital with Intelligence’

At the Global Fintech Fest 2025 (GFF) in Mumbai, Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director of Nvidia (India), shared an optimistic outlook on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping the future of finance. He emphasized that Mumbai is on its way to becoming not just India’s financial hub but the “financial capital with intelligence.”

Highlighting the evolution from Generative AI to Agentic AI, Dhupar explained that the next wave of AI innovation is enabling systems to operate autonomously and solve real-world financial challenges at scale.

“Generative AI has moved on to agentic models which can solve many problems autonomously,” he noted. “Imagine a woman in rural Maharashtra who uploads a product image but doesn’t know how to fill out forms. Agentic AI interprets her intent, analyses her UPI transaction and GST data, conducts market research, and even communicates with her in Marathi—helping her secure a bank offer through EMIs. That’s the true power of AI-driven workflows.”

Dhupar underlined how this intelligence layer is transforming customer experiences for both startups and established financial institutions, unlocking inclusivity and accessibility in financial services.

“Mobiles brought banks to your pocket; Generative AI is bringing advisors with it,” he said. “It’s creating personalized, multilingual financial assistants capable of offering banking, insurance, and wealth advice seamlessly.”

He also emphasized the preventive capabilities of Agentic AI in tackling fraud in the financial ecosystem. By analysing transaction patterns and external data sources in real time, AI systems are now able to detect and halt fraudulent activities before they occur.

Looking ahead, Dhupar predicted that by 2028, India will witness “population-scale AI applications” and a complete transformation in how financial services operate.

“In 2028, we’ll call Mumbai the financial capital with intelligence rather than just the financial capital,” he said. “AI will become as pervasive as electricity—both invisible in backend processes like risk and compliance, and visible in the form of intelligent financial advisors guiding individuals.”

The session underscored Nvidia’s vision for a future where AI seamlessly integrates into financial ecosystems, driving innovation, inclusion, and intelligence across every layer of India’s fintech landscape.
