Bharat Fintech Summit 2025: UIDAI to Launch Portal for Private Entities to Access Aadhaar Authentication

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is set to introduce a dedicated portal for private entities to apply for Aadhaar authentication services. The announcement was made by Manish Bhardwaj, Deputy Director General of UIDAI, on February 5. The portal is expected to go live within the next week.

This initiative follows a recent amendment to Aadhaar regulations by the central government, allowing private sector organizations to utilize Aadhaar authentication for service delivery. The move is aimed at improving transparency and inclusivity in decision-making processes.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, private entities seeking Aadhaar authentication must submit an application detailing their requirements to the relevant ministry or department at the central or state government level. UIDAI will review these applications, and final approval will be granted by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) based on UIDAI’s recommendations. Once the approval process is completed, the respective ministry or department will officially notify the entity, enabling them to use Aadhaar authentication services.

The introduction of this portal is expected to streamline the application process and facilitate the integration of Aadhaar-based authentication across various private sector services.
