Gurugram’s WanderOn Secures ₹54 Crore Series A to Revolutionize Experiential Travel for Gen Z

WanderOn, a leading travel-tech brand specializing in community-focused experiential journeys, has raised ₹54 crore in its Series A funding round. The investment was co-led by DSG Consumer Partners and CAAF, marking a significant milestone for the startup as it transitions from a successful bootstrapped model to venture-backed hyper-growth.

The fresh infusion of capital will be used to scale the company’s destination portfolio, enhance tech-driven traveler journeys, and deepen its footprint in high-growth niches like adventure, sports-led, and wellness travel.

From Bootstrapped Success to ₹100 Crore Milestone

Founded in 2017 by Chirag Jain, Ravi Khokher, Madhusudan Jaju, and Govind Gaur, WanderOn has spent years building a robust Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) travel brand. Remarkably, the company scaled to a ₹100 crore business while remaining bootstrapped, doubling its revenue year-on-year in the post-pandemic era.

To date, WanderOn has facilitated journeys for over 1 lakh travelers across 40+ domestic and international destinations. Its success is built on:

  • Community-Led Discovery: Focusing on group trips that allow solo travelers and friends to bond over shared experiences.

  • Millennial & Gen Z Focus: Leveraging digital storytelling and influencer collaborations to reach a younger, high-intent demographic.

  • Offbeat Expertise: Prioritizing hidden gems and road trips over generic tourist circuits.

Scaling the “Experience Economy”

As the “experience economy” gains momentum in India, WanderOn plans to use the Series A funds to move beyond traditional itineraries. The company aims to strengthen its “specialty travel” categories, catering to the growing demand for:

  1. Adventure & Treks: Expanding high-altitude and rugged terrain expeditions.

  2. Wellness Retreats: Curating trips focused on mental and physical rejuvenation.

  3. Sports-Led Travel: Creating travel packages centered around global and domestic sporting events.

“Our goal is to reach every curious traveler in the country, offering an intuitive, end-to-end journey that feels personal and immersive,” said the Founding Team in a joint statement.

Competitive Landscape

While WanderOn has built a strong organic presence through social media, the Series A funding puts it in direct competition with other major travel-tech players like Thrillophilia, TravelTriangle, Tripoto, and Holidify. However, WanderOn’s focus on a curated, community-first D2C model provides a unique edge in retaining high-value repeat customers.

“WanderOn has demonstrated exceptional capital efficiency by building a ₹100 crore brand without external funding. We are excited to partner with them as they build India’s most loved travel brand for the next generation,” said a representative from DSG Consumer Partners.
