In a big leap for India’s aerospace ambitions, Green Aero, a Delhi-based deep-tech startup building next-generation aero engines, has raised $1.6 million in seed funding. The round was led by pi Ventures, with participation from Antler. This follows a previous $240K infusion led by Rebalance in September 2024.
Founded by Prithwish Kundu in 2023, Green Aero is not just another aerospace startup—it’s pioneering core propulsion technologies across aerospace, naval, and green hydrogen sectors, marking a first for India in civilian aircraft innovation.
What Makes Green Aero Different?
-
Indigenous design from the ground up
-
A proprietary turbine technology set to double efficiency over current global benchmarks
-
A roadmap to supersonic propulsion and zero-emission hydrogen engines
-
Aiming to commercialize its first engine within 12 months
“Our engines are designed to perform at the frontier—high thrust, high efficiency, and sustainable by design. India has the talent and drive to lead in aerospace propulsion, and we’re building that foundation,” said Prithwish Kundu, Founder & CEO, Green Aero.
The funds will be used to:
-
Expand the engineering and operations team
-
Establish a state-of-the-art testing facility
-
Accelerate go-to-market efforts for their first product
One of the startup’s biggest milestones? The successful test-firing of India’s first hydrogen-powered aero engine core, aptly named ‘The Blue Dragon’.
With global aviation racing toward greener skies, Green Aero’s dual focus on deep R&D and cutting-edge clean tech places it firmly in the league of future aerospace leaders.
