Flowatt Battery Science Raises ₹2.2 Crore Pre-Seed Funding from PedalStart to Power India’s EV Battery Revolution

Bengaluru-based battery deeptech startup Flowatt Battery Science has raised ₹2.2 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by PedalStart, marking a major milestone in India’s growing electric vehicle (EV) battery technology ecosystem.

The fresh capital will be used to optimize Flowatt’s advanced EV battery design, complete its proof of concept (POC), and build strategic partnerships with insurers, EV financiers, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The company also plans to hire across technology, business development, and operations to accelerate growth.

Founded in 2023 by Siddhartha Srivastava, Bikesh Jha, and Vikash Singh, Flowatt Battery Science combines IoT-enabled tracking, predictive analytics, and smart asset management to enhance the performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of EV batteries. The startup primarily focuses on fleet electrification for last-mile logistics operators in India’s rapidly expanding e-commerce and quick-commerce sectors.

At the core of Flowatt’s business model is its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform, which allows EV fleet owners to access batteries on a pay-per-use basis. This reduces upfront investment costs, provides predictable operating expenses, minimizes downtime, and boosts operational efficiency — tackling one of the biggest challenges in commercial EV adoption in India.

Flowatt has already achieved significant early traction, deploying nearly 1,500 smart batteries across multiple Indian cities. The startup now aims to scale to 20,000 connected batteries, achieve over ₹2.5 crore in monthly recurring revenue (MRR), and expand operations to more than 15 Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities by FY 2026–27.

Commenting on the investment, PedalStart co-founders Manas Pal and Aditya Darolia said,

“As India accelerates toward large-scale EV adoption, Flowatt is solving one of the most critical challenges — the economics of battery ownership. Their BaaS model turns a heavy capital cost into a scalable, flexible service, unlocking commercial EV adoption at scale.”

With a strong focus on technological innovation, affordability, and scalability, Flowatt Battery Science aims to emerge as a leading EV battery startup in India, enabling the country’s transition to sustainable and cost-efficient electric mobility.
