In a world where AI companies are rapidly experimenting with complex pricing models, managing billing infrastructure has quietly become one of the biggest operational challenges. Stepping into this growing gap is Flexprice, a New Delhi-based startup building open-source billing solutions for modern AI and API-first businesses.
The startup has now raised $1.5 million in a seed funding round led by Shastra VC, with participation from TDV Partners and Anupam Mittal.
Founded in 2024, Flexprice is helping AI companies simplify how they charge customers across API calls, token usage, GPU hours, subscriptions, and hybrid pricing structures — an increasingly important need as AI products scale globally. The company’s open-source approach is also resonating with developer-first businesses looking for more flexibility and transparency in their billing systems.
The fresh capital will primarily support Flexprice’s expansion across the US and Europe, while also accelerating the development of new financial infrastructure products beyond billing. These include metering, revenue recognition, and financial reporting tools designed specifically for fast-growing AI-native companies.
The startup says its momentum has grown sharply over the past year. According to the company, revenue increased sixfold in the last quarter, while its event processing volume surged 20X to cross more than 20 billion events per month — highlighting the increasing demand for scalable billing infrastructure in the AI economy.
Headquartered in New Delhi, Flexprice currently operates with teams across Bengaluru and San Francisco, reflecting its growing international ambitions.
Interestingly, the funding also comes shortly after Shastra VC — formerly known as Veda VC — launched a $100 million fund focused on backing early-stage startups across deeptech, artificial intelligence, spacetech, climate tech, defence, and renewable sciences.
